If you want the very best way of recording live TV then Sky Q remains a top choice. Despite Sky moving away from this ageing box and pushing more new customers to its streaming devices, you can still buy Q ith it costing from £32 per month. Once installed it only offers access to hundreds of channels but also the abilty to record and store content on its in-built hard drive.

Other features of Sky Q include full voice search, integration with apps such as Netflix, plus content recommendations and TV guide.

The only issue with this device is that you will need to sign a long-term contract. Luckily, if that’s not something you fancy right now, there is another option that’s currently a little cheaper than before.

Argos has just confirmed that it is offering the latest Manhattan T4-R box at its ‘lowest ever’ price. This device is very similar to Sky Q with it offering a built-in hard drive that’s capable of storing over 1,100 hours of telly.

There’s also the option to record two things at once whilst watching a third and owners get access to a further 60,000 hours of shows and movies via on-demand access.

It also packs a speed processor under its shell, is compatible with 4K and comes with a neat remote in the box that lets you get to your favourite content faster.

Argos is currently offering the more premium 2TB Manhattan T4-R (there’s also a 1TB option available) for £217.

That may still sound a pretty punchy price, but once it’s been paid, there are no monthly fees. That’s because the Manhattan T4-R is powered by Freeview, which means all content is free to watch. In fact, you’ll find well over 100 channels to tune into.

If you thought that was good, John Lewis has gone one step better and slashed things to £215.17 which is over £14 off the original RRP.

It’s worth remembering that Freeview devices can’t access premium channels such as Sky Sports or Sky Cinema, so only opt for one of these devices if you don’t want to view that type of content.
