‘My blind date was horrified by one thing I did so I had the last laugh’

Millie Stennett recalled how she’d left her recent first date within minutes after he’d refused to get her preferred drink after saying he’d buy her one, saying it was ‘too masculine’ for her

A woman was left baffled after her date at a beer garden ended up refusing to buy her a drink after saying what she wanted was ‘too masculine’ for her.

First dates can be awkward, especially if you don’t know each other and don’t know if you have a connection or chemistry. Because of this, one of the most common places for a first date is to go a pub or a bar, or even a coffee shop, to enjoy a drink with each other. However, for one woman, her pub date ended prematurely after he made a strange comment about her drink of choice.

Millie Stennett took to TikTok, where she has an impressive 1.1 million followers, to share her horror first date experience. “Guys, I’ve just been on a first date, and I can tell you right now, there’s not going to be a second.”

She went on to explain that they’d decided to meet up at a beer garden. As she got there, she found him already there and they went on to greet each other. The man then went on to say that he’d buy Millie a drink.

“I was like ‘thank you so much,” she said, before saying she’d like a pint of Guinness, which had shocked her date as he’d gone on to question her choice of drink. She went on to say: “Yeah I love it, it’s literally like my go to.”

The man refused to buy her a Guinness, to which Millie quickly said that she’d be happy to buy it herself. However, this didn’t seem like a good solution for her date, who was seemingly unimpressed by her desired drink.

Millie said: “And he said ‘no, no, no, as in like, I cannot believe I’ve invited a bird to the pub and she’s ordered a pint of Guinness. That is so masculine of you.'”

This made her speechless, as she couldn’t believe what he’d just told her.

“God forbid a girl likes a pint, I didn’t realise it was that much of a problem,” she said. However, she went on to say that she did end up getting her pint of Guinness anyway, despite it not seeming like the date would have a good ending from the first part of their conversation.

“I split the G right in front of him to prove a point, and then I left,” she said. “And I’m probably gonna block him on everything, because what do you mean?! What?

“He sat there with his double rum and coke, f**k off. Get a Guinness,” she said before ending her video.

People quickly took to the comments to support Millie, with many showing her their support.

“If she drinks Guinness she’s a 10,” one person wrote. A second viewer commented: “‘Split the G and left’ Legend.”

“Do this in Ireland and you’ll have multiple marriage proposals,” someone else wrote.

Another person questioned: “Why are we gendering beers…?”
