Boy, 13, arrested after 12-year-old ‘flung to his death from playground roundabout’

Logan Carter, 12, is believed to have died after the roundabout he was on at a playground in Winsford, Cheshire, was allegedly struck by the wheels of an e-bike – with a teenage boy arrested by police

Police have arrested a 13-year-old boy after a 12-year-old boy fell from a playground roundabout and died.

Logan Carter is believed to have died after the roundabout he was on in Winsford, Cheshire, was allegedly struck by the wheels of an e-bike on Friday evening. A teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and then released under investigation. Logan was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident – at Wharton Recreation Ground – and the teenage boy was arrested that same day, officers said. Cheshire Police cordoned off the roundabout to carry out their investigations.

The force said it is exploring a “number of lines of inquiry” into the events leading up to Logan’s death. A force spokesperson said: “As part of this, officers are exploring reports that an e-bike was used to propel a children’s roundabout in the park at around the time of the incident occurring.”

Logan’s parents Rob and Carys said in a statement released via police: “Logan was a much-loved Son, Brother, Grandson, Great Grandson, Cousin and friend to many. He had an infectious personality and a beautiful smile. Everyone wanted to be where Logan was. He was a little boy who was so full of life and wanted to make everyone laugh.

“He made every day worth living. Logan was everyone’s therapy person, their calm and he will be missed more than we can ever put into words. We are taking comfort from the words of support we have received whilst we take time to come to terms with the untimely loss of our blue-eyed boy.”
