Yungblud is set to pay an emotional tribute to his late friend and mentor Ozzy Osbourne following his death this summer. The singer, whose real name is Dominic Richard Harrison, had a close friendship with the late Black Sabbath star and his famous family.

He was even invited to Ozzy’s final farewell show in Birmingham just days before his death. Ozzy sadly died aged 76 at his home in Buckinghamshire, 17 days after taking to the stage at Villa Park.

Following the sad news, Yungblud shared a touching social media post where he said: “I will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage.”

Yungblud is now set to perform a tribute to Ozzy at the MTV VMAs this weekend, where he will join rock band Aerosmith. The Video Music Awards is taking place in Long Island, New York on Sunday, where a large part of the show will be dedicated to Ozzy.

Yungblud will team up with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, as well as Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt as they perform a series of Ozzy’s greatest tracks. UK viewers will be able to tune into the event at 9pm on Monday night on Comedy Central.

While performing at Ozzy’s farewell show, Yungblud led a supergroup that included Bettencourt, as well as II from Sleep Token and Adam Wakeman. They performed Black Sabbath’s Changes, which Yungblud has now vowed to play at every show “for the rest of my life”.

On 22 July, hours after it was announced Ozzy had died, Yungblud shared a series of candid photos of himself chatting and smiling alongside the music icon. He wrote in an emotional caption: “I didn’t think you would leave so soon the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room.

“But as it is written with legends, they seem to know the things that we don’t. I will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage.

“Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own. You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us the music was enough.

“You took us on your adventure – an adventure that started it all. I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time.” Just two days later, Yungblud shared how he was struggling to process Ozzy’s death.

The I Think I’m Okay singer wrote: “I’m trying to compute the last couple days and honestly I’m absolutely f**king shattered. You have been my North Star for everything for as long as I can remember from when I was misunderstood as a child to the way people thought I was just a little ‘too much’ or ‘strange’ in my life and career.

“I owe so much to you, your wife and your family – you all gave me a road to run down and supported me when people would turn their nose up.” He concluded: “For the prince of darkness you sure brought all the light to the world. I love you Ozzy.”
