Inside Rebekah Vardy’s fresh start as Jamie signs for new team Cremonese in Italy

By staff6 September 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Jamie Vardy put pen to paper on a deal with Cremonese, a Serie A side in Italy, having enjoyed 13 years at Leicester City, where he won the Premier League and FA Cup

WAG Rebekah Vardy sees her family’s new adventure – in a cultural Italian city – as an opportunity to “slide into a new social circle,” sources claim.

The media personality has moved with her family to the nation for a “fresh start” after Jamie, 38, penned a deal with Serie A side Cremonese. The striker’s big-money contract at Leicester City expired, marking an end to a 13-year stint with the Foxes, during which he won the Premier League and FA Cup.

And it is believed Rebekah, 43, had pined for more glamour with a new spell at another “really glitzy club”. Cremonese, though, are a little-known team newly promoted to Italy’s top flight, reportedly with a significantly smaller budget to Leicester City’s recent wealth.

One source close to Rebekah said: “Becky desperately wanted a glamorous big move to a really glitzy club. She had dreamed of Inter Miami, hanging out with Victoria Beckham would be like a dream for her… The Miami lifestyle – nightclubs, celebrities, parties – is way more her. Cremona, though, is all crumbling old buildings and culture.”

Interest in Jamie was high, though, with star-studded Championship club Wrexham pursuing the attacker. This move would have offered Rebekah the opportunity to buddy up with actress Blake Lively as her husband Ryan Reynolds is the co-owner of Wrexham. Birmingham City, owned by US superstar and former American footballer Tom Brady, were also reportedly interesting in signing Jamie.

Yet the veteran forward took the Cremonese deal, and will play in Cremona, famed for its musical traditions, being the birthplace of Antonio Stradivari, the legendary Italian violin maker. It is certainly quite the contrasting scene to the hustle and bustle of Miami, for instance, but no move to Inter Miami came to fruition in the summer.

The insider continued: “Becky is used to the limelight, but nobody in Cremona will have the first idea who she is.” They spoke to the Daily Mail, which also reports both Rebekah and Jamie were desperately keen on “fresh starts” despite his success with Leicester City.

And, due to this and his three-year stint with England, Cremonese supporters have already dubbed their new signing “the king”. Local publications say Jamie will have a huge part to play in Cremonese’s desperate battle to stave off relegation this season.

It is thought Rebekah will be able to mingle with the squad’s existing WAGs easily as most speak English fluently. The source added: “Becky might have to rethink her style somewhat if she’s going to fit in with the Italian WAGs. They’re not about garish designer labels and sports gear… But most of them also speak fluent English so there’s a chance for her to mingle and make a whole new circle of friends if she can pull it off.”
