Newsboy fancies his nap, Phoenix Moon, to win at Lingfield and also hopes Herakles can score in the last at Newcastle and complete his Daily Double
PHOENIX MOON is fancied to get back to winning form by beating eight rivals for the Get The Inside Track With raceday-ready.com Handicap (Div II) (4.58) at Lingfield Park on Monday.Denis Coakley’s daughter of Phoenix Of Spain has won two of her nine starts on the all-weather – both successes came over Monday afternoon’s course and distance – and punters fancied the grey to register a third Lingfield win in a nine-runner handicap 13 days ago.
Phoenix Moon ended up the 11-10 favourite but her supporters reckoned without Travel Agent, backed from 25-1 to 10-1 in the moments leading up to the ‘off’, who got a dream run on the inside en route to a two-length win.
The winner was a well-handicapped horse that day and, with the assistance of Oisín Murphy another plus, Phoenix Moon gets the vote to go one better from an unchanged British Horseracing Authority mark of 54.
At Newcastle, HERAKLES is taken to benefit from a return to the all-weather in the Arc £1Million Bonus Bigger Than Ever Handicap (Div II) (8.40).The Paul Midgley-trained sprinter scored over course and distance here in June when last seen on an artificial surface and a 5lb higher mark should not prove fatal to his chances here.
