Man Utd news: Marcus Rashford sent warning as Ruben Amorim told not to play star again

Manchester United are keeping a close eye on a number of their current stars over the international break but a number of their loanees are also making headlines too

Manchester United will be thankful that the focus is off of them for the time being. The Red Devils were right at the forefront of the headlines this summer as Ruben Amorim splashed the cash.

United chiefs spent over £200m bolstering his side only for the club to have a nightmare start to the season. A defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town saw United slump to new levels just before the window closed. The club are currently in the middle of a short break, with the current international window having brought domestic action to a close. But there’s still news coming out of Old Trafford, especially when it comes to the fitness of a number of their forwards.

There could also be some more transfers on the agenda over the coming days despite the window having been closed for nearly a week.

With all of that being said, take a look at all of the news from Old Trafford over the past 24 hours:

Rashford sent England warning

Thomas Tuchel has demanded Marcus Rashford continue putting effort in for England despite admitting the versatile forward has failed to ‘wow’ in a Three Lions shirt. “He struggles a bit with numbers and with the ‘wow’ performance in an England shirt, I agree,” Tuchel said after Saturday’s 2-0 win over Andorra.

“But as long as he trains like he did and behaves and is active and alive in the group, then we will always trust him and push him and support him. I can see that he tries, this is for me the most important that he stays positive and he trains at the moment with the right attitude, with a smile and with a lot of quality.”

Amorim told to ‘not play’ Bayindir

Ruben Amorim has been warned he can’t play under fire goalkeeper Atay Bayindir again following a poor start to the season. Former Chelsea star Craig Burley told ESPN: “Altay Bayindir, they can’t play him.

“He might be okay at shot-stopping which is what goalkeepers are paid for but he’s absolutely useless at dealing with balls in from set-pieces. This new lad [Lammens] needs to be able to marshal a back four, make saves and have an authority and make a statement at set-pieces.

“That’s what every team is going to do against United now, they’re going to launch balls into the box and the goalkeeper needs to be able to deal with it. He’s either going to sink or swim. We don’t really know how he’s going to handle this scenario.”

Cunha drops injury hint

Matheus Cunha could be back for United sooner rather than later after he took to social media to give supporters a glimpse into his recovery from injury. Cunha was forced to pull out of the Brazil squad this month due to injury.

And in a post on Instagram, he hinted that he could be back on the pitch very soon. Posting a photo of himself on an exercise bike in the gym, Cunha wrote: “The time is flying,” alongside a clock emoji and dynamite emoji.
