Donald Trump’s Press Secretary shared a wild theory about Charlie Kirk’s murder with a single word message – “wow.”
Karoline Leavitt posted a message to her Instagram story today linking the right-wing influencer’s death to an earthquake, suggesting it had been caused by god because he was “angry” about the assassination.
It also featured a string of bizarre ‘numerology’ theories about the incident.
“On the night Charlie was shot, a 4.1 earthquake struck Utah. In scripture, 40 represents trials; 41 signifies a shift. It hit at 5:57 local time, 7:57 Eastern.”
“Acts 7:57 describes Stephen, the first martyr, stoned as the crowd silenced his truth. The Bible says the earth trembles when God is angry. That night, as a voice was silenced, the ground groaned.”
Posting the message on her personal Instagram, Ms Leavitt added: “wow.”
Ms Leavitt has been open about combining her Catholic faith with her role as Press Secretary, releasing videos of her leading the White House comms team in prayer before press briefings.
The White House is supposed to observe a separation of church and state – a rule which has largely been ignored by Trump’s administration.
Trump established a “White House Faith Office”, aimed at targeting “anti-Christian bias” within the government and “bringing back faith” in America.
It’s led by hugely controversial televangelist Paula White, who preaches that faith can bring material wealth and personal success, something that has led to her being branded a “heretic” by many mainstream Christian leaders.
Biblical numerology is the belief that God is talking to the world through inscrutable numeric codes hidden in the bible.
Ms Leavitt is currently in the UK, accompanying Donald Trump on his state visit.
The President today met with the King and Queen on arrival at Windsor Castle, where he was treated to full military honors and a ride in a gold-trimmed carriage.
