Take That’s Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald, have announced the return of their Circus tour
Take That have announced they are bringing back their record-breaking Circus tour, 17 years after they thrilled fans with their huge arena tour.
The hit ’90s pop group, currently consisting of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald, will perform The Circus Live in summer next year, across 11 stadium shows with special guests in tow.
The Circus Live originally staged in 2009, a year after the release of their album of the same name, and broke records as the fastest-selling tour in history, with over 600,000 tickets sold in under five hours.
In their exciting announcement, the band said: “The Circus tour was one of our favourite experiences as a band and, in the years since, we’ve talked many times about how much we’d love to do it again one day. Well, that time has come! We’re so excited to welcome audiences old and new across the UK and Ireland to the spectacle of The Circus Live next summer. See you out there!”
Take That will be supported by The Script and Belinda Carlisle on their tour and tickets are set to go on sale on Friday, September 26 at 9.30am.
The group will perform in Southampton, Coventry, Sunderland, Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester followed by two nights in London before heading to Dublin.
The trio have been teasing fans over a big announcement in the lead-up to the news.
The band, which was originally a five-piece including Robbie Williams and Jason Orange, posted a video on their shared Instagram page yesterday, showing the trio getting ready for a circus show – in reference to their 2008 album The Circus, which saw the band go on a tour in 2009 titled Take That Presents: The Circus Live.
Fans were abuzz with excitement in the comments section as one wrote: “The Circus!!! I am deffo coming this time
“I just wish Jay would be here”, mentioning their former bandmate Jason Orange, who left the band in 2014.
While another said: “The Circus was the BEST tour ever!! This is so exciting”, and a third said: “Omg. This is so exciting”.
Overnight, the band’s logo has appeared around stadiums across the UK, seemingly teasing the new tour. Venues where it has appeared include Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Glasgow’s Hampden Park, Sunderland’s Stadium of Light, and St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton.
The group made the announcement today but in the lead-up some fans were also convinced Jason is set to return to the band after several posts teasing the big announcement failed to show faces of the band members, before sharing the full teaser which featured the faces of Mark, Gary and Howard.
The posts prompted hope that Jason, who left the band in 2014, could return. He worked on the Circus album and featured on its subsequent tour, but he’s opted to stay out of the spotlight since leaving Take That.
In one teaser video featuring Gary, fans noticed orange items in the background, and one person wrote: “Color of the map under the VHS Cam? ORANGE.” [sic]
Another said: “Orange hat, orange note book, orange material draped over the mirror, orange jacket hanging on the rail.” They later followed-up by adding in the comments section of the post: “And orange make up in the palette.”
While others appeared to pick up on more clues. “I notice Jason’s red and white trousers in the background,” one said while others expressed hope that the former member will return, with one fan writing “Please be Jason.” And another penned: “Jason Jason Jason coming back please.”
