Conjoined twin Carmen married her boyfriend while sister Lupita identifies as asexual, and both are opening up about intimacy, marriage, and life after judgment
Carmen and Lupita Andrade, 25-year-old conjoined twins are sharing intimate details of how life changed after Carmen married her longtime partner, Daniel McCormack.
Carmen tied the knot in October 2024, following a relationship that began in 2020 when they met on the dating app Hinge. The twins are connected at the torso and share reproductive organs among other internal anatomy, which complicates how people assume their lives must work.
While Carmen embraces her marriage, Lupita has previously said that she identifies as asexual and does not share the same romantic or sexual desire. Carmen says she values her marriage deeply, adding that Daniel’s respect for her as an individual difference the way others have treated her in the past.

Daniel, 28, has also fired back at critics, saying: “People are obsessed with sex, you know? And it’s just like, frankly, it’s none of your f—— business.”
The twins, born in Mexico and raised in the US, have made the relationship dynamic work for them. Lupita supports Carmen’s relationship, describing her bond with Daniel as “like a brother”.
“We eloped in October with our families,” Carmen told People, announcing the intimate ceremony on Lover’s Leap Bridge in New Milford, Connecticut, where she proudly showed off her wedding ring in a YouTube update.
Lupita added, “I don’t want to get married,” confirming that while her sister is now married, she herself has no plans or desire to enter romantic commitment.
The twins described some of the assumptions they constantly face from strangers – intrusive questions about pregnancy, sexuality, intimacy, and whether both of them share a partner.
They explained that because they share reproductive organs, many people incorrectly assume they must share romantic or sexual life, or that one twin’s marriage must imply the other’s.
Carmen stated that the medical community has been hesitant to provide treatments for issues like endometriosis because of their conjoined anatomy.
Despite facing these challenges and public curiosity, Carmen and Lupita collectively agreed Carmen would pursue marriage and legal documentation as a spouse, while Lupita would not.
They added that Carmen and Daniel are not sexually intimate in the way many expect, and that their dynamic with him is rooted in friendship, love, and mutual respect.
Physically, they share certain organs – such as the pelvis and reproductive system – but have separate hearts, lungs, and stomachs.
Health issues are part of their daily experience; Carmen has been diagnosed with endometriosis, a condition that impacts both twins, and they have sought medical care where possible, despite doctors sometimes being wary due to their anatomy.
The twins also earn a living from sharing their lives on social media, working with brands on collaborations.
