Bulldog owners swear by £20 ‘wrinkle paste’ to keep their pets’ skin clean and healthy

By staff20 September 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

British Bulldogs are known for their adorable wrinkles, but these skin folds can cause health issues if they’re not kept clean – and pet owners are swearing by a £20 product to help

People swear by this cream

Bulldogs, as adorable and cuddly as they are, come with their own unique set of challenges for pet owners.

It’s not the foghorn-like snoring that’s the issue – in fact, many find it quite endearing – but rather, keeping them clean and safe is the real task.

This is particularly true for British Bulldogs, who due to their large size, have a lot of excess skin, resulting in common features like skin folds, often found on or near the face.

While these folds may look cute, they can lead to some serious health issues if not properly maintained.

Indeed, these creases can create a warm, moist environment that attracts harmful bacteria and yeast, reports the Express.

This can result in skin fold dermatitis, also known as intertrigo, as well as bacterial infections such as pyoderma, causing redness, inflammation, odour and discomfort.

Dog experts advise that regular and gentle cleaning, followed by thorough drying of the creases, is the best way to prevent and manage these problems.

Vets urge pet owners to use pet-safe, fragrance-free wipes, or a mild soap and water solution when cleaning their bulldogs.

There are also numerous creams available that can be very effective. However, it’s important to choose the right one, and remember, it doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

In response to a Reddit query about the best way to care for a bulldog’s sore skin folds, one user recommended Squishface Wrinkle Paste, claiming it does the job more than adequately.

“Squish face wrinkle cream,” they recommended, “I slather it in the folds after cleaning with a wet wipe then drying with a soft towel or tissue.

“Works a treat” chimed another, while a glowing product review reads: “Took me a while to get onto this stuff but I’m glad I did.

“I apply a pea-sized amount just once a week after evening bath time to my Frenchie’s face folds. It’s very thick so may need rubbing in again further in the morning, but the results are impressive. No more redness.”

Squishface Wrinkle Paste is available at various retailers. On Amazon, a two ounce tube is priced at just £19.99 and boasts a rating of 4.3 stars out of five.
