I don’t know about you, but I’m a nervous driller. Will I hit an electricity cable? A water pipe? Drilling is an anxiety-inducing, potentially perilous pastime. However, regardless of its consequences, having bought a dilapidated doer-upper in Didsbury, Manchester, two years ago, I often find myself wielding a drill anyway. All the gear, certainly no idea – and I know I’m not alone in this.

So when I discovered no-drill blinds I was genuinely excited. But what exactly are they? Well, no-drill blinds are window coverings designed for damage-free installation, ideal for renters or those who prefer non-permanent solutions, as they attach without screws or drilling.

They use alternative methods like tension-fit brackets, adhesive mounts, or clip-on systems to secure the blinds directly to the window frame, beading, or within the recess. This tool-free approach offers convenience, allows for easy removal, and protects walls and window frames from marks.

Tool free? It was music to my ears. I fell over myself to order some, heading to my old faithful: Blinds2Go. A one-stop-shop for, as the name suggests, blinds, Blinds2Go has one of the largest selections of no-drill blinds in the UK, with hundreds of designs to choose from. Made bespoke to fit any window shape or size (min 41cm x 40cm), prices start from just £34.05. I set about ordering some.

The process couldn’t be easier. You simply pick the pattern or style of blind you like (I chose a Roman style and the Ella pistachio coloured pinstripe ) and enter the dimensions of your window into the boxes.

You then choose the option Click2Go, which costs £14.95, but is often discounted. Your blinds are then dispatched in 10 to 14 days, ready to be installed.

Believe me when I say that if I can install something, so can you. And to fit these foolproof blinds you simply hold the pole in place within the recess of your window, then push a plastic lever upwards.

It clicks, secures fast in place and, well, that’s that. Voila – you have blinds. Eclectic cables and water pipes remain intact. One of my most exciting homeware finds so far. Now all the room needs is a lick of paint!
