Pensioner fighting for life after being mauled by her seven pet Rottweilers

The 77-year-old old is fighting for her life in after being attacked by her seven dogs in the latest horror to hit Brazil days after two men died due to the dangerous animals

An elderly woman is in critical condition after being savagely attacked by her seven Rottweilers.

The 77-year-old was rushed to hospital after the group of out-of-control dogs launched at her in in Gravatai, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on Saturday. The attack came just one day after a 70-year-old man died when four pit bulls attacked him in Minas do Leao, in Rio Grande do Sul.

The unnamed woman suffered “mutilations” to her nose, ear, and various lower limbs. She also had part of her scalp ripped off. The creatures all belonged to her, it has been reported, and were later collected by the Municipal Guard.

Dr. Renato Fetter, who treated the patient last weekend said she was lucky to survive. He said: “she lost the tip of her nose, suffered a nasal fracture, had her ear completely destroyed, and her lower limbs mutilated.”

It comes after market trader Paulo Roberto de Carvalho, 63, died in Duque de Caxias, Baixada Fluminense, after being two pitbulls set upon him a week earlier. His family pair tribute to the hard-woking family man following his horrific death in the city.

Earlier this month, a tiny baby died after being mauled to death when the family’s dog suddenly turned. One-week-old baby Jason Anthony Weaver, who was only born on August 28, was attacked by the five-year-old husky-pit bull mix on September 7. The infant died from blunt-force trauma wounds, the Huntington County Coroner’s Office announced.

Medics attempted to to save the child’s life at the home in northeastern Indiana, US. The baby was taken to hospital in a critical condition but was later pronounced dead. Animal control chased the dog and placed the creature in quarantine. Little Jason’s death has been ruled an accident, officials said, as his parents try to come to terms with the horrific incident.

The family posted an obituary online to honour the child. “Jason Anthony (Weaver) Kinsey, 7 days old, of Markle, passed away on Thursday evening, September 4, 2025. Jason enjoyed the sounds of Rock “n” Roll and country music. He loved the song Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

The tragedy came less than a month after a five-month-old boy was mauled to death by a dog after his mother left the infant in the care of relatives on her birthday in Florida. Sheriff Mike Chitwood of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department looked visibly upset as he branded the case “extremely, extremely heartbreaking”.

“We have a young couple that leaves their five-month-old son, Carter, in the custody of their great-grandmother and great aunt, and they go out to dinner to celebrate mom’s birthday.” The dog was seized and there is now a 10-day period in which the family can appeal it being euthanised.

On entering the room, the great grandma saw their 130lb Great Dane and husky mix sitting next to the child, who was lifeless and covered in blood. It was around this time that the baby’s parents returned to the property and immediately rushed the child to Advent Hospital in Daytona Beach. Despite the best efforts of medics, he was pronounced dead.

“This is tragic. Tragic all the way around. You have a young mother will remember on her birthday that her child is dead,” Chitwood said at the press conference, his voice cracking with emotion as he spoke.

“And the grandparents, I mean, I just don’t know how anybody feels about this,” he continued. “It is so, so, so tragic on what started to be a great night, ends up when you return home, your child is dead. I can’t imagine how anybody in this family feels.”
