Comedian sparks outrage after mocking people for buying one item in Asda

By staff24 September 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Recently an Edinburgh Fringe comedian was shopping in her local Asda and said ‘what’s going on?’ as she spotted one product that left her questioning how some customers have partners and children

A comedian has come under fire after being left baffled by one kind of product found in Asda stores recently. Amy Mason, who is a writer and stand-up comedian, was recently shopping in an Asda store in Bedminster, Bristol. She decided to have a browse through the selection of pyjamas, but was left confused by the amount of Disney-themed nighties there were.

In a video, shared on her Instagram page where she boasts over 33,000 followers, Amy showed the display of Disney and novelty nightwear – from Stitch-themed pyjamas, to Minnie Mouse ones, Strawberry Shortcake and more.

Amy said: “How any women in Asda are getting… you know… how do any of them have kids? These are for grown adult women. I don’t know what’s going on?”

Amy further said: “Look don’t accuse me of snobbery because Asda Bedminster for life but I wanted ‘jamas, but even as a frosty spinster I’m not wearing this to bed like some kind of sad giant baby woman!

“I have a literal comfort blanket and I wouldn’t wear this! Imagine getting you know… wearing a Stitch nightie.”

Her video has been viewed over one million times, however many were left infuriated by Amy’s comments.

One furious individual commented: “Our partners actually like us. Hope that helps.” One other candidly said: “My husband is turned on by me, not my clothes – luckily for me.”

“I love wearing character stuff, each to their own,” commented one other. One other said: “If these are just pyjamas, then just chill your boots. It’s not a big deal what people wear to sleep in.”

Another Disney fan said: “Speak for yourself I love a bit of Disney pyjamas and my partner quite likes them too.”

One other said: “Not sure what the problem is, I’m 57 and have Jurassic Park quilt cover.”

Another boldly wrote: “I wear Lion king, Stitch, Minnie Mouse etc, I have 4 kids and get it most nights darling don’t worry about us lot of women, you carry on being boring.”

However some rushed to agree with Amy, noting there could be more options available in shops for those who are not fans of character pyjamas.

One wrote: “It’s like this everywhere. I personally don’t want to wear Disney pyjamas. It’s actually quite annoying.”

Another said: “Honestly, I just want normal regular pyjamas I like Disney but don’t identify as a Disney adult. I feel like character wear is mostly for children. I don’t want to wear Stitch pyjamas. I want pretty, sophisticated adult pyjamas.”

In an update, Amy said she has “never got so much hate” on a video before. She added: “Look, you wear whatever makes you being happy… I was just being silly. It’s just that there weren’t really any other options and there are so many of them.”
