Cleaning expert Lynsey Crombie, known as the ‘Queen of Clean’, regularly appears on ITV’s This Morning and has a list of products she’s yet to buy
A cleaning guru has shared her list of four products you should never waste your cash on. Lynsey Crombie, dubbed the ‘Queen of Clean’, regularly features on ITV’s This Morning as well as the Today Show in Ireland and Channel 5’s Gadget Show.
When it comes to cleaning, one thing everyone should understand is that sometimes, less is more, Lynsey reveals. Whilst it can be tempting to get drawn into TikTok videos showing influencers using countless different products to clean one item, this isn’t always essential.
In fact, there are some items Lynsey avoids entirely, favouring a more natural option that she insists works even better than sprays and foams sold in attractive bottles, reports the Express.
For example, she steers clear of air fresheners when it comes to stocking up the cleaning cupboard.
Lynsey said: “I’ve never felt the need for them, instead open the windows and let that fresh air flow through.”
Another product that Lynsey doesn’t see the value in is floor wipes. She advised followers on TikTok to “ditch them” as a spray mop is “easier on your knees”, environmentally friendly, and “keeps the floor streak-free”.
Lynsey also revealed that she has “never been a fan” of Viakal and instead opts to use white vinegar. “It’s gentle, effective, and removes limescale and hard water with ease,” the cleaning expert told her TikTok followers.
Then she demonstrated how she soaks a paper towel with white vinegar before wrapping it around the affected area – such as on the base of her tap, and around the spout. Finally, Lynsey opts to steer clear of “harsh oven cleaners”, stating: “If your oven hasn’t been cleaned in over a year, you may possibly need them. But if you keep on top of it, it’s a simple mix of lemon and bicarbonate of soda; these do a fantastic job.”
To maintain your oven sparkling and in excellent condition, you simply need to combine the lemon and bicarbonate of soda to form a “foamy scrub” before spreading it throughout.
Lynsey remarked: “My oven isn’t filthy but even with regular cleaning it still picks up dirt and grime; this method works perfectly. Simplest products really are the best.”
Lemon can be utilised throughout the home for numerous other cleaning tasks, according to Lynsey.
For instance, you can position several lemon halves in a bowl of cold water inside the microwave and run the appliance on full power for five minutes.
The expert explained that this will “release the grease” which will make it simpler to wipe away any grime with a cloth.
If there are spots in your home affected by rust, you can tackle this by combining lemon with salt to create a paste. After applying to the rust and scrubbing, leave the mixture for a few minutes before washing away with warm water.
