‘I bought treats from most expensive bakery in London and people were floored by cost’

By staff29 September 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

A popular baker visited a high-end London bakery known for its lavish desserts and left people stunned after sharing how much he spent in total on the sweet treats

It’s safe to say there isn’t a shortage of cafes or bakeries in the UK. Brits are known to have a love of sweet treats, including traditional puddings, cakes, baked goods as well as new, innovative desserts.

The largest and most popular bakery chain in the UK is Greggs but there are others that are loved by British foodies, like Gail’s Bakery, Millie’s Cookies and Lola’s Cupcakes. Greggs is favoured for its cheap and convenient food with popular products like its famous sausage rolls. Those willing to spend more money to get their sweet fix can find a number of luxury bakeries in London in particular.

Ash Baber, a baker recognised online for his sweet food recipes, recently shared a video on TikTok showing what he bought from Cedric Golet at The Berkeley in Knightsbridge, London.

The bakery is known for its highly artistic pastries, especially those that resemble fruits and flowers.

Ash shared: “There is this one bakery that I’ve been wanting to try. It’s known as the most expensive bakery in London.”

During his visit to the capital city, he picked up a range of items from the bakery and spent an eye-watering £208 in total.

The foodie, who boasts 1.9 million followers on TikTok, then reviewed each product he bought.

He started with a dessert designed to look like a fig and thought it was “very refreshing” but didn’t have a strong fig flavour.

Next, he tried a confection created to resemble a peach which had “a lot of flavour” but was sour so he mentioned it “might be an acquired taste.”

Moving on, he bought a box of four almond cookies that cost £25 each. The baker questioned: “What is in these cookies for them to cost £25? It’s too much.”

He did some research online and found that they have “high quality ingredients”, such as organic flour, premium butter and Belgian chocolate.

Taking a bite of one of the “very pretty” cookies, Ash said: “I was expecting to really like this because I love nuts but I don’t think I love it.

“It’s too crunchy for my liking, I prefer a soft, gooier cookie.” He bought another similar cookie without the almond topping for £15 and described it as “a good cookie” that he thought would taste nice warmed up.

Continuing with the baked goods, he sampled a pain au chocolat priced at £8 and admired how “perfect” it looked inside, noting that this is “difficult to achieve” so he declared it to be worth the price.

After this, he tucked into a Strawberry Biscuit Trompe L’Oeil and liked how flavourful it was so he rated it a ten out of ten and decided it was his favourite product from the bakery that he tasted so far.

A peach flower dessert was next and Ash particularly enjoyed the base and how crispy it was. He ended his taste test with a lemon meringue tart and liked how “zesty” it was.

The baker concluded: “Final thoughts – everything was nice. Is it overpriced? Yeah but at the same time I think in life some things are made for the experience.”

His TikTok video has amassed more than 500 comments and a number of viewers were stunned by the price of the bakery items.

One said: “Two hundred and eight British pounds on a bakery…is a choice.” Another asked: “208?? in this economy???”

A third user added: “£208??! That’s more than my month’s food budget. They look good though!”

Someone else highlighted: “I just wanna let you know that £208 is like 400 AUD. Crazy money.”
