‘I spent less than £5 in Morrisons using app and was amazed by huge haul I got’

By staff1 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Maia Allen was handed a “mountain” of food so large that she struggled to carry it back home, and she was thrilled to realise that it was worth almost eight times the £4.99 she paid for it

Woman shocked at value of £4.99 Too Good To Go bag filling her fridge

From Too Good To Go food bags to Labubu blind boxes, we’re all somewhat obsessed with not actually knowing what we’re receiving at the moment. Sometimes, we’re delighted with our discoveries, but other occasions can leave shoppers feeling rather let down. However, Maia Allen was anything but disappointed when she opened her Morrisons Too Good To Go bag.

Maia received a “mountain” of food so enormous that she struggled to carry it back home, and she was chuffed to realise that it was worth nearly eight times the £4.99 she paid for it. The Londoner was amazed when staff handed her the haul, which included fresh items such as mangos, grapes, apples, plums, bananas, pomegranate, mixed peppers and more.

What the 25-year-old anticipated to be a modest mystery bag transformed into a massive food haul that packed her fridge and cupboards.

She said she had sufficient fruits and vegetables to last her over a week.

Not bad for less than a fiver!

Maia said that she was “beyond happy” with the bag, and it arrived at a brilliant time as she’s “currently on a health kick,” so it was “perfect” for what she wanted at the moment.

She said: “I used the food across dinners and lunches for the next week and a half, made smoothies, and even froze some of the fruit.

“I was genuinely shocked at how much I got.

“The lady who gave it to me was lovely and joked, ‘I hope you can carry this!’ which made me laugh since I’d just come from the gym and was in full gym gear trying to carry home a mountain of fruit and veg”.

The bag also included several ready-to-cook combinations, such as an edamame and broccoli stir-fry and herby baby potatoes, which were ideal accompaniments for the meals she prepared.

Had Maia purchased the same items separately in the shop, the haul would have set her back around £35 to £40, meaning that she secured an absolute bargain.

The Too Good To Go bag is only matched by a Wasabi sushi bag that she collected a few years ago.

She added: “The best Too Good To Go I’ve ever had was a sushi bag from Wasabi a few years ago. Sushi is my favourite cuisine.

“I received so much in that bag and still think about it! I usually get at least one bag a month.

“Lately, I’ve been going more for supermarket ones instead of bakery or takeaway bags, as they last longer and encourage me to try new things.

“The food lasted really well – some bits I froze, but I managed to eat everything in the end”.
