‘I uninvited sister-in-law from wedding after she leaked intimate detail’

By staff2 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

When a woman told her close family an intimate piece of information about her, the last thing she expected was for her sister-in-law to spread it not only to extended family, but online

12:07, 02 Oct 2025Updated 12:08, 02 Oct 2025

A woman admitted she revoked her sister-in-law’s invitation to her wedding after she leaked an “intimate” detail about her to her followers online. The bride-to-be, 26, shared that she was 10 weeks pregnant, and her 28-year-old partner and she told their “immediate families early” but “made it clear” that they would not be telling anyone else their exciting news until after the first trimester.

However, her fiancé’s sister clearly got too excited and decided to not only tell people outside their family circle, but also the whole internet at the same time. On Reddit’s ‘Am I The A******’ forum, she wrote: “Last night, my fiancé’s sister, 29, posted a story on Instagram. It was a ‘get ready with me’ for a family dinner we had LAST weekend.

“She then causally indirectly talks about becoming an auntie, and she tagged me and my fiancé”.

The original poster said that she saw the video when she “got a notification” that she’d been tagged.

But by that time, she had “over 50 messages from distant friends and coworkers” before she’d “had time to process it”.

Then, she did process it, and she was “totally mad”. “I called her screaming. She tried to say it was ‘an accident’ and that she ‘forgot’ and she was just teasing,” she fumed.

The woman then took it a step further in a fit of rage. She ended the post by saying: “I told her she was uninvited from our wedding. She cried, my future in-laws are furious, saying I’m overreacting and ‘ruining the family’ over a ‘silly social media post’.

“They say I should just be happy people are excited. My fiancé is on my side.”

In the comments, someone wrote: “You’re not the a*******. Not only did she go against your wishes, she also took away your joy of making that announcement yourselves.”

Another replied: “Not just that, but at only 10 weeks. If something goes wrong (hopefully the original poster has a pleasant and trouble-free pregnancy), that will now be a huge list of telling a bunch of people.

“And if you forget someone, it’s explaining over and over when someone texts about how the pregnancy is going.

“It’s really rude when they made it clear they weren’t telling anyone before the first trimester had passed to just put it out there”.

Somebody shared their pal’s experience of the same thing happening, writing: “I had a friend who had this happen to them.

“Their mother-in-law told the entire extended family, and all of the family friends that she was pregnant at about eight weeks long, and she miscarried three weeks later.

“Having to tell everybody again and again made it to the point where she and her husband have decided to be child-free now, and her mother-in-law is still p***** about it. Saying that she was denied a grandchild. They tell her every single time that it’s her fault”.
