Only four months after leaving Corrie, Sue Cleaver is living in a caravan
Sue Cleaver has revealed that she is living in a caravan, just four months after quitting Coronation Street. The actress played Eileen Grimshaw on the ITV show for 25 years.
Filming a video from her caravan, Sue shared that she has been staying in her motorhome whilst working away. “Somebody asked me at the theatre last night, ‘Oh were do you stay when you’re… are you in a hotel?'” she said in the clip, posted to Instagram on 2 October.
“Well, a lot of actors stay in hotels. They stay in digs, Airbnbs, or in rooms and people’s houses. I’m a bit old for that now,” she explained. Sue said she liked to have her own things with her wherever she goes. “I like my things around me, so I bring a bit of my home with me.
“I bring a bit of my home with me, so I can take it to every job I got to.” Sue then gave viewers a caravan tour. Sue showed off the cosy living area, the double bed and a small kitchen. The motorhome also includes a bathroom with a shower to wash.
The soap star said getting the caravan was “the best thing” she’d ever done and asked fans to give her suggestions for where to go in her motorhome.

“Caravanners of the world unite. It’s the best thing. It’s the best thing we’ve ever done and I absolutely love it. So while I’m on, if anyone knows an good sites that I haven’t been to yet, let me know.”
Sue left Coronation Street earlier this year after 25 years on the show. Speaking about her exit, Sue revealed that she was happy with how she was written off and wanted to try new things and step out of her comfort zone.
“I’m chuffed with my Coronation Street legacy, they gave me a wonderful send off and the ending that I asked for and I wanted Eileen’s exit to mirror what I feel I’m doing and what I want other women to do – to live fearlessly, don’t let fear hold you back, be who you want to be.
“It’s never too late to try something new, that’s what I wanted for her, this realisation for her to go ‘hang on a minute, I don’t have to stay, I can do something completely different, all it takes is courage.”
She also said told press that she had made the decision to leave years before she filmed her last episode. Sue initially decided to quit when she did I’m A Celebrity in 2022. “I made the decision to leave when I went and did the jungle, I’d known for a while.”
She added that the final scenes she filmed were difficult to get through: “There were moments when I had a little wave of emotion, we filmed the final scene on a Thursday and we went out for dinner and I came back on the Friday to do some other scenes and at the end of that it was really weird feeling, but it felt right.”
