Jannik Sinner won his third trophy of the year defeating Learner Tien in the China Open final on Wednesday, with the Italian tennis ace admitting he’s running out of space for silverware
Jannik Sinner has confessed that his burgeoning trophy haul is so vast he’s had to relocate his awards to his parents’ house. Despite his tender age of 24, the Italian star already boasts an impressive 21 titles, including four Grand Slam victories.
The latest addition to his trophy cabinet came on Wednesday when he breezed past American hopeful Learner Tien with a smooth 6-2 6-2 win in the China Open final. This marks Sinner’s third title this year, having previously clinched the Australian Open and Wimbledon earlier in the season.
After falling short to Carlos Alcaraz in last year’s Beijing final, the former world No. 1 made sure to walk away with the trophy this time. Despite a gallant effort from 19-year-old Tien, who was competing in his first ATP Tour final, Sinner proved too formidable an opponent.
Following his victory, he reflected on the importance of the China Open to him. “It is a very, very special place for me,” Sinner shared during the trophy presentation, reports the Express.
“My team, thanks for understanding and working with me. Not all the team is here, so hopefully the rest are watching from home. Thanks for working with me and we will try to improve and push for more and let’s see what the rest of the season looks like, but I am very happy to share this [trophy] with all of you.”

Sinner is facing a unique problem – he’s running out of space to store his trophies. After winning his first title since his triumph at the All England Club in July, Sinner has been forced to keep his growing collection of awards, including the massive China Open trophy, at his parents’ house due to lack of space in his own flat.
When quizzed by reporters in Beijing about where he stores his trophies, Sinner responded: “In my parents’ place always. My apartment is quite small, so there’s not a lot of space.”
The tennis ace is now gearing up for his opening round match against Daniel Altmaier at the Shanghai Masters on Saturday where he’ll aim to defend his title. Speaking about his preparations for the ATP 1000 event, Sinner commented: “I’m not the only one who is changing.
“If you ask every player, every player is changing stuff and trying to get better. Whatever we try to do, it’s not crazy steps, just trying to adjust a couple of things, trying to get better as a player, like everyone else does.
“Certain shots that worked slightly better than the months before, certain shots we can still improve. But it’s also normal, and I’m just looking forward to having as many matches as possible in every tournament.
“This gives me the chance to try as many things as possible. So, let’s see, but we are quite happy with the work we are doing.” Sinner’s three titles so far this season is five less than he achieved last year.
