Elton John and David Furnish issue emotional statement as they share ‘big news’

By staff5 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Elton John and his husband David Furnish have shared some “big news” in an emotional statement as they continue their charitable efforts through the Elton John AIDS Foundation

Sir Elton John, who recently caused concern amongst fans, and his husband David Furnish have shared some “big news” in a touching announcement.

The 78 year old music icon and his 62 year old partner used Instagram to give an update on their continuing charitable work. The pair run the Elton John AIDS Foundation and disclosed they have successfully helped over two million people with “lifesaving care” – though the Rocketman star stressed: “That’s not enough”.

In the message alongside a video posted on the foundation’s social media account, they announced: “Big News: The Rocket Fund goal is expanding to $200M! Since 2020, we’ve reached 2.2 million people with lifesaving care. But global funding cuts and rising stigma are putting lives at risk. Now is the time to make sure no one is left behind. Just imagine how much further we can go – together.”

The announcement comes as another project is helping ‘keep him alive.’ The clip showed Elton saying: “We have achieved a lot, and I’m so proud of that, but that’s not enough. We have far more people to help.”, reports the Express US.

The charity is now aiming for an ambitious $200 million fundraising target to enhance healthcare access whilst offering people dignity and hope, reports the Express.

Elton said: “If you have ambition and you have heart and you want people to be saved and have a better life, then you don’t stop.”

The foundation’s website outlines the Rocket Fund initiative, stating: “Our momentum is accelerating because the need is urgent. Even before funding cuts occurred, 9.2 million people living with HIV were not on treatment, and there were 1.3 million new cases in 2024.

“The Rocket Fund is stepping up to meet these challenges: expanding access to testing, prevention, and treatment, and tackling the stigma that keeps people from care.

“But we can’t do it alone. With your support, we can reach our $200 million goal and bring the world closer to ending AIDS for good.”

Elton chimed in with a statement: “I established the Foundation when the end of AIDS seemed impossible – many would not even say the word. Resources were scarce, but many brave, passionate people made the world take notice.

“Today, we stand together on the brink of ending this epidemic, and we won’t waste that opportunity. We are doubling down and extending the goal of our Rocket Fund to $200 million to make sure we continue to fuel the momentum that will bring us to the end of AIDS for good.”
