By staff5 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

A man in his 30s was found with a stab wound inside a house in Leicester this morning. Six men have been arrested, Leicestershire Police have confirmed

Six people have been arrested as police carry out a murder probe after a man was stabbed to death inside a house in Leicester.

Officers were called to the address by the East Midlands Ambulance Service at 1.37am on Sunday. A man in his 30s was found with a stab wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

This evening, Leicestershire Police confirmed that following extensive enquiries, six men have been arrested. A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and another five, aged between 24 and 53, have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, the force said.

The six men are in custody, police added. Investigations are ongoing. The road where the incident happened was closed throughout the day but the cordon has since been lifted.

The police said in a statement: “A murder investigation is underway after a man died inside a house in Sawley Street, Leicester, in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 5 October). Police were called to the address by the East Midlands Ambulance Service at 1.37am. A man, who is in his 30s, was found with a stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Following extensive enquiries by a team of detectives, six men have since been arrested. One man, aged 44, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and another five, aged between 24 and 53, have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They are currently in custody.

“The team are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. This remains ongoing with officers and staff carrying out CCTV and house-to-house enquiries. A scene preservation is also in place while forensic officers and a specialist search team examine the address. The street has been closed off throughout the day, but the cordon has now been lifted.”

Detective Chief Inspector Tim Lindley, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit’s (EMSOU) major crime team, is leading the investigation. He said: “Dedicated policing resource is being used for this operation as we work to build up a full understanding of what has happened.

“We believe the incident happened inside the address in Sawley Street in the early hours of this morning and sadly a man has died as a result. The victim and the man currently in custody for murder are known to each other and our priority at this time is to establish exactly what has occurred.

“Throughout the day officers have been in the street speaking to residents and offering reassurance. This remains ongoing and we would urge anyone who heard or saw anything that might help with our investigation to please come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to speak to the police in the area or call us on 101, quoting crime reference 25*584439.
