Vinicius Junior’s home catches fire while Real Madrid star is away on Brazil duty

By staff9 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior’s home in the Spanish capital caught fire on Thursday following a fault with his basement sauna while the Brazil forward was out of the country

Vinicius Junior’s Madrid home was set ablaze due to an incident involving a faulty sauna, according to reports in Spain. Firefighters were called to the scene on Thursday morning to quell the flames.

The fire was said to be extinguished in an hour, with Spanish authorities confirmed they were called to a property in La Moraleja. Vinicius’ home lies in an upmarket neighbourhood north of Madrid in Alcobendas, near Real Madrid’s training ground.

Spanish outlet AS claims the sauna was ‘completely destroyed’, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. A mechanical issue with the sauna’s electrics is said to have been responsible the basement blaze. Smoke engulfed two floors of the 24-year-old’s house after quickly spreading through the stairwell. There was reported to be heavy smoke damage throughout.

Firefighters said a speedy response and coordination between emergency service teams were pivotal in preventing the fire becoming more ferocious. Once the blaze was under control, crews were able to ventilate the property.

The Real Madrid star’s domestic staff and friends are said to have been inside the house when the fire started and called upon the help of the emergency services. Vinicius, meanwhile, is currently in Seoul, South Korea as Brazil take on the nation and their neighbouring Japan during the international break.

The fixtures mark an important part of Brazil’s preparation for next summer’s World Cup. Carlo Ancelotti’s side have no competitive matches before the tournament in the United States.

Vinicius is likely to prove an important part of Ancelotti’s squad, with his familiarity from the Bernabeu beneficial given the Italian’s limited time with his players. “I think more tactical work is needed to refine game strategy,” Ancelotti said.

“All of this can be very important, but the most important part is not the strategy, it is the attitude of the players on the pitch. For that, it doesn’t take much time to prepare.”

Vinicius has enjoyed an impressive start to this season so far under new boss Xabi Alonso. The attacker has scored five goals and made four assists in eight matches.

Brazil play South Korea in Seoul on Friday before travelling to take on Tokyo four days later. Vinicius is expected to start against South Korea alongside stars such as Casemiro, Gabriel Magalhaes and Bruno Guimaraes.
