Man who went ‘missing’ for years found after family spot something strange on TikTok

By staff12 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

A Colombian man had seemingly vanished, leaving his worried family wondering what happened to him. Two years later were shocked to see his face in a social media video

A man who seemingly vanished for two years was finally found after unexpectedly appearing in a TikTok video.

Diego Londoño, a 41-year-old philosopher and musician, had been sought by his concerned family after he disappeared in Peru.

Diego had lost contact with his sisters in Colombia. After two years of searching for him, an influencer learned about his situation and decided to help finding him.

After reports he had been spotted in the Peruvian city of Máncora, Amy Solano, an Ecuadorian businesswoman, travelled to the area.

Although her first day of searching yielded no results, amazingly while in nearby Chiclayo, she came across a man that looked like him and posted the video on TikTok.

Thanks to her efforts, Diego was located and taken into custody by the Peruvian National Police (PNP), Unilad reports.

In the early morning of Thursday, September 25, officers from the Lagunas-Mocupe police station saw him walking along the Panamericana Norte highway and recognised him.

His family received the good news that he was safe. but Diego has since stated that as a “voluntary nomad he has no plans to leave to see his family and does not want to return to Colombia.”

The media outlet RPP said: “He himself said that he does not want to return to his country.”

He reportedly spent one night and one day in the police station – where he received food, clothing and the option of calling his family.

RPP said he communicated by phone with his sisters, Olga, Martha and Lucía, who said they will respect his decision not to return to Colombia at this time.

The report said: “There is no complaint of disappearance. He spoke with his sisters and made it clear that he does not want to return to Colombia.”

He reportedly refused to undertake a psychological evaluation, but he did not show any symptoms of health problems during his time at the station.

“He is a polyglot man who moves through different cities of the country, subsisting on the sale of handicrafts in bronze and copper,” the officers said, according to translations.

Now that Diego plans to fly to Lima, police said that they recommended he approach police stations every now and then to communicate with his family and alleviate any worries they have for his safety,

Speaking to Éxito Noticias, Diego said: “It’s difficult for me to explain that I’m not like other people, but my family is there. […] From here to Lima and from there back to Colombia. I need to work a little, I almost never have plans.”
