As a self-proclaimed cosy queen, autumn and winter are my favourite seasons. I love nothing more than curling up on the sofa in new PJs after a hot bubble bath.

I’d pick a bath over a shower any day, as I love all the lotions and potions from bath bombs to bubbles and cremes. So, when I was given the opportunity to review the Baylis & Harding Luxury 24 Days of Beauty Advent, I turned on the tap, lit a candle, and got to work.

Priced at £45, it is relatively reasonable when compared to other Christmas countdowns that cost upwards of £100 but, anyone still hesitant at that price point, can currently get it for £39.96 on Amazon, where it’s currently 11% off. It’s a nice treat for beauty buffs on a budget, including busy parents or those who want a well-deserved pamper night during the festive season.

It contains 24 bath-time luxuries ranging from bubble baths to bath bombs and moisturisers in varying scents – but bear in mind that all the products are travel-size. The first thing that caught my attention was the packaging, which is colourful with pink and peach ombre tones, and bath sud prints.

Behind door number one, I received a hand and nail cream in the scent Sweet Mandarin and Grapefruit. Encased in a little gold tube, it has a citrusy scent. It’s suitable for the winter and autumn months, and thanks to its mini size, it is handbag and bedside table-friendly.

The festive countdown contains a range of relaxing bath and shower products.

However, as nice as it is, I was a bit underwhelmed to receive a hand cream on day one. I was expecting something a little more exciting to kick off my bath time festive countdown calendar.

The second two products I used were a body butter and bubble bath in the scent Midnight Cherry. The bubble bath lathered up beautifully in the tub, and lasted the duration of my bath; it also filled the bathroom with a relaxing, spa-like aroma.

After finishing the bath, I applied the body butter, which had a thick consistency but melted easily into my skin. I liked the texture of the body butter, but it was lacking a cherry fragrance, despite the name suggesting it.

I particularly like Baylis and Harding’s Jojoba, Vanilla, and Almond Oil range, which features heavily in this Advent calendar. I think fans of gourmand and sweet perfumes will also really like the products in this collection.

The Advent calendar features a range of products in this scent, including a soap, three bath and shower products, and even a shampoo and conditioner. The vanilla and almond scents are subtle and sweet-smelling, whilst the jojoba is nourishing for this time of year, when skin can tend to become drier.

The soap and the bath mousse are my favourites in this collection. The oil-infused products have a subtle scent and leave the skin feeling clean and hydrated.

Other products worth mentioning include the bath bombs, each of which comes encased in gold foil, reminiscent of Christmas biscuit tins. The festive countdown contains four in total, one for each week of the hectic holiday season.

Overall, for the price point, this is a high-quality Advent calendar with pretty packaging and products that pack a punch. It is full of lots of treats, which I think are ideal for people to unwind on an evening, especially those who need pampering during the dark evenings of December.

For £40, I think it is a thoughtfully curated Advent calendar that contains a nice mixture of Baylis & Harding’s collections. There is also a variety of scents, ranging from citrusy to sweet, fruity smells, and gourmand vanilla and almond.

Alternatively, customers with a bigger budget might like Lush’s Advent Calendar, priced at £205. It contains 25 vegan-friendly products, including year-round favourites and 10 Christmas editions.

Beauty buffs who want a mix of make-up, skincare and body care can look to Boots, where its 24 Day Premium Beauty Advent Calendar is on sale for £150. Goodies include full-size products from MAC, NARS, Caudalie, and Too Faced, as well as minis from Elemis, Benefit, and more.
