‘I’m a travel expert and here are my 12 top destinations for sun all year long’

By staff14 October 2025No Comments6 Mins Read

A travel expert has shared the top holiday destination he would visit for every month of the year, so you can get guaranteed sun no matter when you’re thinking of travelling

We Brits love to travel. Thanks to the dreary weather we experience for the majority of the year, escaping the wind and rain for a sunnier location is a must when you feel like you need a break, and so we’re always looking for warmer places to visit at just about any time of year. This is why countries like Spain, Greece, and Turkey rank highly among the most visited holiday destinations for British tourists.

But if you’re looking for the very best place to visit at a certain time of year, it can be difficult to know where to go. Is Barcelona better in May or September? Is there a European spot that’s perfect for Christmas on the beach?

Questions like these often lead us to ask travel experts for advice – and now one of them has given us a comprehensive list of which country to visit for every month of the year.

In a video shared on TikTok by a holiday expert named Rob, he shared the 12 destinations he would recommend people visit depending on which month of the year they want to travel – and most of them are relatively cheap, too.

1. January in Tenerife

Rob said Tenerife reaches a pleasant 22 degrees in January, and while it’s a popular tourist destination all year round, the prices for flights and hotels to the island often drop after the new year.

There should also be fewer tourists during this time of year, as people tend to travel more in the summer, meaning you can escape the cold January weather in the UK and enjoy a warmer, quieter Tenerife.

2. February in Marrakech

The expert recommended jetting off to Morocco to escape the February blues with a trip to Marrakech. He said in February, he wants a holiday that is “warm, fun, and cheap”, and claimed Marrakech ticks all those boxes.

He added: “This place is perfect before the summer kicks in. Rooftop dinners, mint tea, and markets that will wake you up from winter mode.”

3. March in Las Vegas

One of the most expensive places to visit on Rob’s list, he said he would spend a March holiday in Las Vegas, US. He admitted you could also go for cheaper options like Malta or Madeira, but if you have the cash to spend and want something more extravagant, Vegas is where it’s at.

March in Vegas is often around 22 degrees, so while it isn’t exactly tropical weather, it’s certainly warmer than an average March day in many parts of the UK. Plus, there’s “plenty to do” in the bustling city.

4. April in Rome

If you’ve ever considered exploring the sights of Rome, Italy, but have been put off by how busy it gets, then you might want to try visiting in April. Rob described April as a “sweet spot” for Rome, as it’s warm but not too hot to explore the city’s sights, and the bulk of tourists haven’t arrived yet.

He said: “For April, one place springs to mind immediately, because April is a sweet spot here before all the crowds turn up. Warm enough for gelato and piazzas, and cool enough to actually be able to walk through them all day, Rome is at its best when the locals outnumber the tourists.”

5. May in Antalya

As summer starts to take hold back home in the UK, Rob recommends visiting somewhere where the season is “already in full swing”, with temperatures of around 27 degrees. So his pick is Antalya in Turkey.

He said you can enjoy a fantastic all-inclusive holiday in Antalya in May for “half the price” of the same trip in July, so it’s the perfect time of year to soak up the sun in the Mediterranean resort city.

6. June in Rhodes

Rob said it was a “no-brainer” to choose a Greek island for June, and while there are many to choose from, he insisted they “don’t get much better” than Rhodes.

He said: “Hot but not unbearable, crystal waters, and lovely beaches before the peak season starts.”

7. July in the Algarve

By this point, we’re well into summer, and even the UK is warm enough for most of us. Holidays at this time of year are also more expensive as it’s the beginning of the peak season, so anywhere you want to go is likely to be quite busy.

But if you want to take the kids away on holiday once school finishes at the end of July, then Rob recommends planning a trip to the Algarve region of Portugal. The expert said the location is “family-friendly” and is often cheaper than Spain at this time of year, even though it’s a hugely popular destination in its own right.

8. August in Croatia

August is another month that’s hugely popular for holidaymakers, especially those with children who want to get away while school is out for the summer. So, Rob recommends avoiding hotspots like Spain and Greece and trying out somewhere less popular but still beautiful, like Croatia.

He said: “There are not many places more beautiful in the world than Croatia in August. Yeah, it’s a bit busy, but it’s worth it. Island hopping, beach clubs, perfect turquoise water, it’s like Ibiza but half the price and double the charm.”

9. September in Seville

Now that some of the summer crowds have died down, it’s time to take a trip to Spain’s hottest city to soak up the sun at the beginning of autumn. Rob said by September, the crowds in Seville have “gone” but the heat is very much still there, so you can enjoy the balmy climate without the noise.

10. October in Cyprus

If you fancy soaking up some 28-degree sun while the UK battles through dreary wind and rain, then make October the month you visit Cyprus. Rob said: “This place is perfect for half-term or for one last trip before winter. In fact, you’ll forget it’s almost winter at home.”

11. November in Egypt

As the UK fully embraces winter and temperatures start to plummet, you might want to get away to a sunnier country – especially if you don’t want to travel over Christmas. Rob suggests checking out Egypt at this time of year, as the weather is “spot on” and it’s not too crowded, as most of the sun-seeking tourists will have visited during the summer.

12. December in Dubai

Many people looking to get out of the UK in December want to still embrace the wintery weather and will book trips to places like Germany for their Christmas markets or to Lapland to see Father Christmas.

But if that doesn’t sound like you and you’d much rather be sitting on a beach with a nice cocktail, then Rob recommends you visit the very popular tourist destination of Dubai. He said the prices are “way cheaper than you might expect” in Dubai in December, so you could enjoy a luxurious holiday for a fraction of the usual price.
