‘My 4 kids have unique names but some say the ones I didn’t pick are worse’

By staff19 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

A woman who recently welcomed her fourth child has shared a list of baby names she ‘loved but didn’t use’ and people have told her some of her choices are ‘insane’

When you have a baby, the name you choose to give them is entirely up to you. Whether you’re a fan of the classics or want to go for something a little more unique, you’re free to give your child almost any name you like – provided it is approved by the registry office in the UK.

No matter what name you choose, however, you’re likely to find some people who don’t share your tastes and think the moniker is bad. One mum who shares her home life online knows this all too well, as she came up with four very unique baby names for her children and is constantly receiving negative comments about them.

Nara Smith recently welcomed her fourth child, Fawny Golden, with her husband, Lucky Smith. Fawny joins older siblings Rumble Honey, Slim Easy, and Whimsy Lou, and Nara has said she’s now finished with expanding her family.

In a new TikTok video, Nara shared the names she “loved” but didn’t end up using for Fawny, and said she’d never be using them now that she’s “done” having kids. But her video attracted plenty of mixed reactions, with some saying they loved how unique the monikers were, and others claiming they were “insane”.

Nara started by listing some of the names she considered for a baby boy, including Denim and Dice. She had hoped to use them if she had given birth to twins, as she loved the way they sounded together.

She also claimed she had considered naming a baby boy Silver, Grey, or Walker. The final boy’s name on her list was Lucky, but she said she was “biased” in wanting to use it because it’s also the name of her husband and the father of her kids.

The mum-of-four had plenty more options on her list of names for girls, though.

She said she loved the names Lace, Ruffle, Flora, Wonder, Dainty, Penny, Meadow, Ribbon, Prim, Poppy, and Sola. Nara also gave a nod to the unusual monikers Whisper and Lilac.

The mum went on to say she recently visited the estate of the horticulturist and philanthropist Rachel “Bunny” Mellon, and was inspired to add her name to the list.

She said: “I recently visited Bunny Mellon’s estate, and that definitely was on our list for a very long time. I love the name Bunny as a first name and then Melon as a second name.”

Commenters on Nara’s video were split on her unusual name lists. Many said they were confused by the names she wanted to give her kids, while others said they actually thought some of them were “beautiful”.

One person said: “Bunny Melon is insane.”

Another added: “They are not unique names. They’re random words.”

But another defended the names, stating: “Slim Easy is a fire name to be honest.”

Other commenters were convinced that Nara was lying about her children’s names to protect their identities. They claimed celebrities or influencers must give their children “decoy” names, as there is “no way” the unique monikers they share online are “real legal names.”
