A woman has shared her disgust at her new partners after sex habit, and called it a ‘turn off’ – however she has been called ‘controlling’ for wanting to ask him to stop
A woman has been labelled as “controlling” for wanting her boyfriend to stop his after sex habit – as she admitted it’s a real turn off for her.
She took to Reddit anonymously to tell users that her sex life with her new man is “amazing”, until he pulls his vape out the moment they finish, and now doesn’t know whether to confront him about it. While sex is a way for couples to share an intimate moment and strengthen the relationship, she said she can’t help but feel turned off when he reaches for his vape straight after.
Smoking after sex was something that often appeared in film and TV shows, but for this unamused woman, it’s not doing her partner any deeds.

She asked whether she should mention it to her man or not and explained: “I’ve just started dating this new man, it’s been great and it’s been amazing to have someone that’s been so active in the bedroom and keep up with me.” She then noted how sex is a “very important part of a relationship” for her so her sex life can be “make or break”.
The post further detailed: “This new man is great in all departments except for once we’ve finished, rather than going to straight to good aftercare or a cuddle, he grabs his vape and starts puffing away, it’s a bit of a turn off.”
However she asked fellow Reddit users if they think it’s a conversation she can approach with him and ask him to stop, or whether he would react badly to it. She finished the post with the question: “I really do like him but is doing that after sex acceptable?”
People were quick to comment their thoughts, and it caused a huge debate. Some people called her “controlling” while others called it an “instant ick” and a “red flag”.
One Reddit user said: “Red flag! Cut this jerk out of your life! You deserve a man who doesn’t vape after sex!” And a second penned: “This would give me an ick so big you could see it from space.”

While others jumped to his defence and said: “Women will never understand men and how they feel after sex. Let the guy vape! It’s a necessity for him.”
However one person suggested the puffing might mean the woman’s partner wasn’t completely satisfied. They wrote: “Vaping gives a dopamine hit – maybe he’s not fully happy with the sex. Bring your A-game next time.”
Wading in on the debate is David Donaghy, from Riot Labs, who said it’s healthier than smoking: “Vaping is backed by Public Health England as the most effective quitting tool for smokers, with research showing it to be 95% safer than cigarettes. For years, smoking after sex has appeared in popular culture, film and TV series – but with millions of Brits depending on vaping to quit, it’s no surprise the habit is entering the bedroom.
“If reaching for nicotine to keep that post-sex “high” going, then opting for a vape is a much safer option”.
