‘I’m a tech expert and these are my top electronic deals on Wowcher’

Christmas is nearly here and Wowcher is the place to go for some great deals on gifts

With Christmas approaching, now is one of the best times to consider picking out gifts for the festive season. For those with tech in mind, one retailer offers the chance to get brands like Apple and Samsung for a fraction of the usual cost.

Wowcher offers a huge variety of gifts to choose from, including electrical and tech products. It’s here where shoppers can find discounted iPads, Samsung Galaxy Watches and Amazon home tech for much less, rivalling retailers like BackMarket and musicMagpie.

As a tech writer, I’ve found a handful of eye-catching deals, including a Samsung Galaxy Watch for less than £50. Apple fans can make the most of an iPad Pro with a £200 saving, there’s a Dyson vacuum for less than £100, and a heater airer for less than £30.

Here are five items from Wowcher that I think are worth looking at. Especially if you’re looking for big-name brands without the big price tag.

One thing to note is that, like Amazon Renewed and BackMarket, the majority of these deals are refurbished. However, Wowcher does state the conditions shoppers can expect to be delivered to their door.

Amazon Echo Dot

Wowcher shoppers can pick up an Echo Dot Fifth Gen for £39.99, while Amazon charges up to £64.99 for the device. It also includes the kids model – perfect for a Christmas gift for a little one.

This makes Wowcher cheaper than Amazon, with customers also able to choose from the standard charcoal, white or deep sea blue editions for the same price.

The Echo Dot is Amazon’s own Bluetooth smart speaker designed for quick, cable-free streaming, with this model upgraded with ‘high-clarity vocals and powerful bass’ compared to previous versions. With Dolby Digital Sound, it’s the ideal device for listening to music, podcasts, and audiobooks around the house.

GET DEAL

Shoppers can get the Echo Dot from Wowcher for only £39.99 in an epic deal saving.

The gadget can be used wirelessly with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and is compatible with both Apple iOS and Android devices. Shoppers have called it an “excellent bit of kit” but have also criticised connectivity issues when it comes to setup.

Alternatively, there’s Apple’s HomePod Mini Smart Speaker for £99. However, this isn’t compatible with Android handsets.

Apple iPad Pro 5th Generation

For those who want a new tablet and want to invest in one of Apple’s best, this iPad Pro deal is £200 cheaper on Wowcher. This 12.9-inch model device was the first ever Apple iPad to feature the M1 chip, which at the time was a game-changer for processing speeds and helped boost user experience for those who enjoy editing and gaming.

Despite being an older device, it still holds up well and provides speedy task completion. It also has a great screen for watching shows, light gaming, and streaming. One thing to note is that this is a refurbished model, so buyers can expect minor surface marks due to previous use.

The good news is that Wowcher provides easy returns for those who are not happy with the purchase. For those who want alternatives, the newest iPad Pro with an M5 chip was released just recently. Shoppers can get the iPad Pro for £27 a month if they want to spread the cost, from Sky Mobile.

Samsung Galaxy Watch

This Samsung Galaxy Watch is currently £49 – down from the usual £199 in a big price drop. The watch can track up to 40 different exercises, allowing users to make the most of their workout.

It can also learn about users’ sleep routines so they can wake up feeling more refreshed. The Galaxy Watch also tracks sleep quality, creating a log that includes the four stages of sleep. It also monitors stress levels and provides intuitive guided breathing.

One thing to consider is that this is an older device with only 4GB of memory on board. It’s not the newest device on the market, and this model is also refurbished.

Buyers have called it a ‘great piece of technology’ that ‘helps make calls and track workouts’ but criticised the battery life. For those who want an alternative to shop for, there’s the newest Galaxy Watch Ultra from Argos for £599 for those who want the best Samsung has to offer.

Dyson V6 cordless vacuum

The Dyson V6 Cordless Handstick Vacuum is currently available on Wowcher for only £99. The price has been slashed from £189.95, saving shoppers a whopping 48% due to its refurbished state.

The brand says the device lifts dust, debris, and pet hair fast with its V6 digital motor. It also includes a pet tool to remove stubborn hair from carpets and furniture.

Its lightweight build means shoppers won’t be struggling around the house, as it’s only 2.11kg, and the comprehensive tool kit, which includes a crevice nozzle, dusting brush and upholstery tools, means customers are able to clean all areas and in tight spaces.

For those looking for alternatives, Lakeland has a new Lightweight 2-in-1 Cordless Vacuum, currently available for £99.99. Buyers have called the device “amazing” when it comes to cleaning and getting rid of hair and dust, but some have complained about the battery life being poor and needing regular charging.

Large heated clothes airer

This winged heated airer is only £24.99, thanks to a big price drop from £49.99. As winter starts rolling in, this airer is perfect for drying clothes while the cooler weather sets in. It’s ideal for big clothing loads for the whole family and has plenty of space for different pieces of clothing.

It’s also pretty cheap to run, costing around 5p to 7p an hour, whereas a tumble dryer can cost on average £2 an hour and dries clothing in a flash. For those looking for some alternatives, shoppers can look to Lakeland’s DrySoon airers which cost around £159 depending on the model.

Review-wise, one shopper called the heated airer ‘a great deal’ that helps dry clothes fast. However, they did criticise the extra delivery charges for the product.
