Air fryers remain one of the essential appliances for home cooks in recent years, but keeping them clean is vitally important. Failing to clean your device regularly could result in unpalatable food or cause the machine to malfunction, reports the Express.
Nevertheless, one TikTok creator revealed her fool-proof technique for ensuring all the grease and grime in her air fryer will dissolve away – without any scrubbing required. All you’ll require is some dishwasher tablets to do the job.
Kaye Marie explained that her two-step method will have the best results. She said: “The quickest way to clean your air fryer in two simple steps. No fuss, no mess.”
How to clean air fryer grease
Pop a dishwasher pod into the air fryer trays. Next, pour boiling water from the kettle, ensuring you don’t overfill the tray so the water spills through the grate.
Let the mixture “marinate” in the tray for as long as possible. Kaye Marie suggested leaving the tray to soak for up to six hours.
When you believe the trays have soaked sufficiently, wash away all the grime under the tap. She explained: “The longer you leave it to soak, the better. If they’re quite bad you may need a little bit of Fairy Liquid on a sponge for the trays.
“If you want to go the extra mile, you can do the inside with Pink Stuff.”
Dishwasher tablets combined with hot water can efficiently eliminate grease from the appliance due to the alkaline salts and other chemicals found in the tablets.
The chemicals function to dissolve grease and food debris, whilst hot water assists in loosening the grease for simpler removal. Kaye Marie’s video has been viewed over 119,300 times, receiving 4,869 likes and 49 comments.
