Navpreet Singh, 26, was fatally attacked in a car park in the early hours of Wednesday, with three men arrested as police launch a murder probe

A family have paid tribute to a “kind” and “hardworking” young dad who tragically died after being attacked in a Wolverhampton car park.

Navpreet Singh, 26, was rushed to hospital at around 1.30am on Wednesday by friends after the attack, which took place in a car park off Dudley Road in Blakenhall. He suffered serious injuries and was confirmed dead at the hospital at around 2.10am, West Midlands Police said.

Three men were arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday. A 20-year-old man remains in custody, while two other men, aged 23 and 34, have been bailed pending further enquiries, the force added.

The 26-year-old’s devastated family said on Saturday: “Navpreet was a loving husband, devoted father, brother and son. He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his second child. His wife is utterly heartbroken and inconsolable at the loss of her beloved husband, with whom she had been building a beautiful future.

“His two sisters, are absolutely devastated and inconsolable, mourning the loss of their cherished brother with whom they shared a deep and unbreakable bond. The family describe him as a kind, hardworking, and caring man who placed his loved ones above all else. His warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. The family request privacy during this extremely difficult time as they grieve their beloved husband, father, son, and brother.”

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses can contact police via Live Chat on their website, or by calling 101 and quoting log 247 of 22 October.

Alternatively, witnesses can remain completely anonymous by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
