Tommy Fury makes new demand to Jake Paul for rematch fight

By staff27 October 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

The pair first went head-to-head back in 2023 and have been tipped to meet in the ring for a second time, but Fury’s team have set out their conditions for a sequel to happen

Tommy Fury wants a rematch with Jake Paul – but only if the price is right.

The pair went head-to-head in Saudi Arabia two years ago. Despite being dropped in the final round, Fury ended up getting his hand raised on points – and in doing so – handing the ‘Problem Child’ the first loss of his professional career. Following their dust-up, both men have traded barbs on several occasions.

Despite talks over a potential rematch, nothing has materialised as of yet. Just months after his win over Paul, Fury returned to the ring and defeated KSI, but has only fought once since – a points victory over Kenan Hanjalic back in May. With ‘TNT’ looking to get back in the ring, his father John has admitted that the team are looking at a rematch with Paul.

However, they will only accept the sequel, providing the American’s team meet their number. “Well, we are trying to do what we can. We are looking at the Jake Paul rematch,” Fury Sr told iFL TV. “We are trying to dot a few I’s and cross a few T’s. I have given them a number, let’s see if they can meet it. If they don’t meet the number… f*** off.”

Paul has not fought since his points victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr back in June – but will return to the ring next month. The YouTuber-turned-boxer is expected to take on lightweight king Gervonta Davis in an exhibition showdown at the Kaseya Center in Florida.

Despite eyeing up a sequel with Paul, Fury previously explained why he was not ready to fight the American just yet. In a recently released BBC iPlayer documentary series “Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury”, the 26-year-old boxer revealed why he declined a rematch with Paul, which was scheduled for June 28.

Fury Sr received a call from family lawyer Robert, who asked whether Tommy would be ready for a rematch on June 28. “Listen, that is the oldest trick isn’t it?” Fury Snr retorted. “Tommy has not boxed in 18 months.” The camera then cut to a solo interview with Fury Sr – who said: “My job as a father is to get the right opponent. Get him in the ring. Get some rounds under our belt. Get the hand tested and see where we go from there.”

The clip then switched back to the family gathered around the campfire, with Fury Snr still engaged in a phone call. He continued to tell his lawyer: “I think the answer on that one is going to be no, Robert. We want to be ready and we just want to beat these guys.”

After rejecting the rematch, Fury sought his father’s opinion. A rather stern Fury Snr responded: “They are trying to get you at your worst possible time. They are thinking ‘he has had an 18 month lay off, come off hand surgery, how good can he be?'” The scene concluded with ‘TNT’ disclosing that he needed a few more bouts before facing his adversary again. “It’ll be interesting to know how much they were offering. I know myself that I need two or three fights,” he stated.

When is the next boxing fight?

Joshua Buatsi and Zach Parker will clash on Saturday, November 1 in Manchester. The undercard is anticipated to commence at approximately 6pm UK time (1pm ET / 10am PT / 12pm CT). For the headline encounter, Parker will probably make his ring walk first at 10pm BST (5pm ET / 2pm PT / 4pm CT) with Buatsi expected to follow straight afterwards.

The entire spectacle will be broadcast live on DAZN. This popular streaming service can be accessed as an additional subscription on television sets. It’s also available for live streaming via the official website or through the downloadable application. A DAZN membership costs £119.99 annually or £14.99 monthly, alternatively £24.99 on a flexible arrangement that permits cancellation at any time.
