UK domestic airline Eastern Airways – used by Premier League football clubs – has cancelled all of its flights
UK domestic airline Eastern Airways has halted operations and cancelled all of its flights.
The regional airline, which operated from six UK airports, is not running any flights, the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said, urging customers not to go to the airport.
Eastern Airways flew to destinations including Aberdeen, Humberside, London Gatwick, Newquay, Teesside International and Wick, according to its website.
It comes after the Kirmington-headquartered company filed a notice of its intention to appoint an administrator at the Insolvency and Companies Court, which is within the High Court, on Monday morning.
Selina Chadha, consumer and markets director at the CAA, said: “We urge passengers planning to fly with this airline not to go to the airport as all Eastern Airways flights are cancelled. Eastern Airways customers should visit the Civil Aviation Authority’s website for the latest information.”
Affected customers are advised to arrange alternative travel via other airlines, trains or coaches.
London North Eastern Railway, ScotRail, TransPennine Express and Northern will offer free standard-class travel to the airline’s staff and customers on October 28 and 29. The offer applies on suitable routes run by each train company, the CAA said. Passengers must present an Eastern Airways employee ID, boarding pass or flight confirmation to station staff to access the offer.
Founded in 1997, Eastern Airways ran charter flights for sports teams, including Premier League and Championship clubs.
