The ‘worst’ UK broadband confirmed – where does your provider rank on the list?

By staff30 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

The latest stats are in, and here’s how the UK’s biggest broadband providers are performing.

It’s that time again. Ofcom has just released the very latest figures on consumer complaints, and we now know which broadband, TV, and telecoms companies are winning and losing. Ofcom announces the latest data throughout the year, and its newest report shows that things are slowly getting better, with overall complaints down from the start of 2025.

“In the quarter from April to June (Q2 2025), complaints to Ofcom decreased compared to the previous quarter (Q1 2025: January to March 2025),” Ofcom confirmed.

However, there are still some winners and losers, and it’s bad news for EE with the BT-owned platform coming bottom of the league when it comes to broadband gripes.

“EE was the most complained about fixed broadband,” Ofcom confirmed.

Coming top of the charts was Plusnet, with this Internet Service Provider – which is also owned by BT – scoring the fewest complaints.

HERE ARE THE FIGURES FOR BROADBAND

PLUSNET • 4 complaints per 100,000

SKY • 6 complaints per 100,000

VIRGIN MEDIA • 8 complaints per 100,000

BT • 9 complaints per 100,000

TALKTALK • 9 complaints per 100,000

NOW • 9 complaints per 100,000

VODAFONE • 9 complaints per 100,000

EE • 10 complaints per 100,000

This latest update isn’t just about broadband. Ofcom also looks into Landline, Mobile and Pay-TV complaints as well.

So who wins in these vital categories?

If you want the best landline, Utility Warehouse wins. This firm scored an incredible zero with no complaints per 100,000. Sadly, EE came bottom of the league again with a score of 8 complaints per 100,000.

Those paying for TV might want to switch to TalkTalk or Sky. TalkTalk got just 1 complaint per 100,000 whilst Sky received 2 per 100,00. Yet again, it was EE with the worst score (6 complaints per 100,000).

There was some better news for EE when it comes to mobile services. The platform came joint first with Vodafone and Tesco Mobile. These three providers scored just 1 complaint per 100,000.

Speaking about the latest Ofcom stats, the team at USwitch said: “Ofcom’s latest complaints data marks a real milestone, with complaints across broadband, mobile, landline, and pay-TV at some of the lowest levels ever.

“EE was the most complained-about provider across broadband, pay-TV and landlines – however, it’s worth noting that EE’s number of complaints actually decreased or remained level this quarter, following the general positive trend across the industry.

“Across both mobiles and broadband, service issues continue to be the primary driver of complaints. This highlights the continued importance of connectivity in everyday life, with poor service seemingly the quickest route to customer frustration.

“Against the backdrop of increasing annual price rises, providers need to recognise their responsibility to deliver corresponding improvements in service and value. For consumers, this data is a timely reminder to compare deals regularly and switch if their provider isn’t sufficiently meeting their needs.”
