Jasmine Harman breaks silence after husband’s heart attack horror

By staff12 November 2025No Comments5 Mins Read

A Place In the Sun presenter jasmine Harman has broken her silence following a terrifying incident in Spain which saw her husband Jon rushed to hospital after falling ill at lunch

A Place In The Sun presenter Jasmine Harman has broken her silence after her husband’s terrifying brush with death after suffering a shock heart attack. The TV star, who turns 50 this week, shared a sweet throwback snap of her 2009 wedding day posted by her other half Jon Boast, who is a cameraman on Jasmine’s new Channel 4 show Renovation in the Sun.

Accompanied by the music We Are Family by Sister Sledge, Jon had included the caption ‘Here they are at what seems like ages ago at our wedding @jasmineharman.’ It’s her first post since Jasmine revealed during an emotional moment on the programme on Tuesday 11 November that Jon – who is just 45 – had suffered a cardiac arrest in Spain, while the couple were renovating their new home.

The couple, who share children Joy, 12 and Albion, nine, have been sharing their personal renovation journey in Estepona on the new daily teatime show.

But viewers were stunned to see Jon in Tuesday’s episode being rushed off to hospital in dramatic scenes after falling ill, and Spanish doctors informing him he’d had a heart attack.

Earlier on in the same episode, Jon had opened up about the heart problems that have sadly been prevalent in his family. Heartbreakingly, his sister Jo died unexpectedly in 2016 at the tender age of 40, due to sudden arrhythmic death syndrome.

Speaking about the incident, which happened in May, Jasmine shared emotionally that Jon is thankfully getting back on his feet, but confessed the terrifying experience has led her to complete rethink her life – particularly after losing various close friends, including fellow A Place In The Sun host Jonnie Irwin, who died of cancer in February 2024, aged 50.

Jasmine and her husband, she revealed, are also still grieving for Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers, who passed away last year. Jon had worked with Dave for years, and during the initial part of their renovation series, his widow Lili was seen on film visiting the pair.

Jasmine revealed exclusively to the Mirror: “Jon is fine now and he is back working. I know this sounds strange but even with the background of what could have happened and worrying he could have died; it makes you feel lucky he just had a mild heart attack and everything is fine.

“But the challenges life throws at you has made me take things in my stride a lot better than I used to.”

Explaining that the terrifying episode has made her much less of a ‘control freak’, she went on to say: “You can’t control anything in life unfortunately, except your own responses to situations. I used to be quite a control freak but now I feel I am able to go much more with the flow and not let things get under my skin.”

Recalling the scary moment Jon, how 46, began to realise something wasn’t right, she said, “We’d just had lunch and he said he started to feel funny and strange.

“He went to lie down but he then started to get very agitated and said there was a tightening in his chest. He was having a bit of trouble breathing and everything that was touching him was annoying him. I immediately called the ambulance as soon as he said he felt funny.”

Back in January, she explained, Jon had fractured his left leg while playing padel tennis and went on to develop thrombosis while he was recovering.

Jasmine adds: “As he had thrombosis from the leg break, it was obviously scary but I don’t know why, something inside me was saying: ‘don’t panic, it’s going to be fine’. I was very calm.”

At the Spanish hospital, doctors quickly reassured Jon that what he had experienced was a ‘mild heart attack’ and set about carrying out tests – and he’ll continue to be monitored closely, she explained.

“With Jon’s family history, he’d already been having regular screenings. Now they are doing more investigations and keeping an eye on him. He’s on medication and they will continue to do regular monitoring.”

Jasmine reveals the frightening episode has taught her not to worry about trivial matters. “It’s definitely taught me a lot about how responses shape our experience to whatever happens,” she adds.

“There was a time if I was late for the school drop off, I would get stressed and furious. Now I’m like, ‘OK, the traffic is bad but we can’t help it’. Life is what you make of it.

“If you don’t ever take a chance or a risk, like we did by moving to Spain, you will never do anything new. It is worth it to dream big and take a risk that your heart tells you to do.”
