Cleaning windows has previously involved a large amount of effort and elbow grease. But streaky windows can be a thing of the past using a household item available in supermarkets
The chore of window cleaning can often lead to the task being delayed because it seems like such a faff but a cheap hack has emerged to make panes shine in no time.
Streaky windows can often be frustrating and often people resort to getting a professional in to save time and effort. But this does not have to be the case and there are easier ways to bring shine to your panes. Much of the effort involved in cleaning windows has previously involved a large amount of effort and elbow grease. But the Daily Express reports on some cleaning tips from Mrs Hinch which should make life a bit easier.
Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks and Facebook page attracts fans who have been been swapping stories about their top window cleaning hacks. Maryann Black swears by the same cleaning trick for window panes as well as mirrors. She said: “I use washing up liquid for mirrors too. I just use the cheapest washing-up liquid from Morrisons that’s 55p. The only thing that works.”
Miriam Ahhmed was thrilled with the tip she had received posting: “I want to thank every member of this group who posted about cleaning windows without smearing. I used to use Elbow Grease’s window and glass cleaner with kitchen roll – big mistake. It always left smears, especially when the sun was out. I then tried washing up liquid with hot water in a spray bottle and a squeegee and it gave me streak-free and gleaming windows.”
In less than 60 seconds, her living room window was transformed and the results were nothing short of spectacular. Miriam said: “It took less than one minute to clean the whole living room window and the results were astounding. I’m so happy right now and can’t wait to get the rest of the house done.”
Fellow cleaning enthusiasts quickly chimed in with similar successes. Sally Fallon revealed: “I have started to do mine with water and washing up liquid and it’s amazing.” Dean Scott, who said he had worked more than a decade and a half in the window cleaning business, advised to ditch all the fancy products and old wives’ tales like vinegar. He recommended sticking to washing up liquid, a microfibre cloth, and a squeegee.
Mirrors can also benefit from this simple solution. Debbie Nugent posted in the group: “I always use this method too, but it’s also good for mirrors.” Linda Doyle boasted: “I clean my windows that way and have them done in no time.” But other followers of Mrs Hinch reckon that if you’ve got a top-notch microfibre cloth, you can chuck the chemicals even the washing-up liquid. Sharing a picture of her Marigold microfibre wonder cloth, Abigail Adams said: “100 percent agree. No chemicals, just water and this cloth. Windows will look perfect.” Lisa Simon was also impressed, she said: “This cloth is amazing. I have not found anything as fabulous.”
