An urban explorer stumbled across an abandoned McDonald’s that appears to have been left as it was when its doors were closed back in the 1980s – and the vintage decor has left many feeling nostalgic
McDonald’s marked a significant milestone, its 50th birthday, just a few short years ago and subsequently launched an exciting new menu.
The iconic golden arches have graced us for more than half a century and continue to be a firm favourite. Some Maccies enthusiasts might even recall the first outlets that sprang up in the 70s and 80s, complete with vibrant colours, miniature televisions, and drinks machines.
An urban explorer stumbled upon a deserted McDonald’s that seems to have been frozen in time since its closure in the 1980s. The untouched relic stirred nostalgia among viewers when footage from inside was shared, showcasing the retro interior design.
The video reveals how the original counter, refrigerators, and shelves remain intact, as if customers from the 80s might walk in any moment for a burger and milkshake. A vintage drinks machine, obsolete TV screens, and charming pink and blue seating contribute to the overall throwback atmosphere, providing a peek into what a McDonald’s branch would have looked like four decades ago.
This urban explorer, known to his online audience as Triangle Of Mass, discovered an array of captivating relics amongst the grime, including a pristine hot chocolate machine emblazoned with the slogan ‘Always fresh, always here’.
Triangle of Mass, who hails from the US, remarked: “Inside was insane just to think all that’s left there over the years collecting dust. To think people used to work there and eat there and the memories shared here at this McDonald’s once is just crazy to me!”
Numerous followers echoed the explorer’s astonishment and found themselves swept up in waves of nostalgia upon witnessing this “time capsule” eatery, which granted them a precious peek into a vanished epoch. Many recalled the interior design vividly, with the footage triggering a surge of fond memories.
Others confessed they favoured the vintage aesthetic and lamented that McDonald’s hadn’t maintained the original styling.
