The family of a mother who was mauled to death by a dog at the weekend say they have been “devastated” by her loss in a moving tribute.
Michelle McLeod, 41, was attacked by the animal in a flat in Aberdeen, Scotland, on Saturday night at 11.15pm and sustained serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The dog, believed to be an American Bulldog, has since been destroyed.
The mum has now been pictured for the first time, the Daily Record reported. The family said in a statement released through Police Scotland: “We are devastated by the loss of Michelle.
“She was a much-loved mother, daughter and friend to many and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. We would like to ask our privacy is respected and allow us to grieve at this very difficult time.”
A spokesman for the police force said added enquiries are ongoing and urged anyone with information to get in touch. They said over the weekend: “Around 11.15pm on Saturday, 7 December 2024, police received a report a woman had been seriously injured by a dog within a flat on Foresterhill Road, Aberdeen.
“Emergency services attended but the 41-year-old woman died at the scene. “Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. The dog has since been euthanised.”
