Afghanistan earthquake UPDATES: Entire villages destroyed as 6.0 tremor kills 622

Rescue teams race to quake-affected areas

Rescue teams have raced to areas affected by the massive tremor in Afghanistan.

The Afghan Red Crescent said its officials and medical teams “rushed to the affected areas and are currently providing emergency assistance to impacted families.”

In a post shared to X/Twitter, the Afghan Red Crescent said: “A powerful #earthquake struck late last night in various areas of Nurgal district, Kunar province, causing both human casualties and significant financial losses to local communities. In the immediate aftermath, officials from the #ARCS, along with medical teams, rushed to the affected areas and are currently providing emergency assistance to impacted families.”
