Aldi shoppers have revealed their top 10 favourite products – with one very famous sweet treat claiming the number one spot.
More than 420,000 shoppers voted across ten categories in Aldi’s Fan Favourite survey, but over 30% of overall votes in the Social Media Star category went to the beloved Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake. Cuthbert has long been a household name and won over the nation’s hearts after being emboriled in an infamous legal battle with a rival cake.
Thousands of Brits backed Aldi in their #FreeCuthbert campaign when M&S took legal action against the budget supermarket for its likeness to their famous sponge. First stocked on Aldi shelves in 2019, Cuthbert has had a wild ride since then, making an appearance in the High Court case and even skydiving 40,000ft for charity.
Shoppers will now be able to see Cuthbert, alongside the other category winners, highlighted as a ‘Fan Favourite’ in stores when doing their shopping.
Aldi’s survery spanned ten categories, including ‘Lunch’, ‘Fakeaway’, ‘Top Tipple’ and ‘Health & Beauty’ as well as ‘Social Media Star’. Cuthbert was the clear favourite, scoring more than 30% of overall votes in the Social Media Star category – while the second most voted for product was Magnum Washing Up Liquid, which scored 20% in the Cleaning category.
