Aldi shoppers run to buy £1.99 ‘gold dust’ product that’s finally back in stock

Aldi shoppers have been told to ‘run’ to their nearest supermarket to get their hands on a returning food item that is said to be like ‘gold dust’ – and it’s only £1.99

Aldi has told its customers to “run” to their nearest supermarket as soon as possible, as they announced the anticipated return of one of their most popular products – and people can’t wait to get their hands on the item.

The budget supermarket shared a video on TikTok this week that they are once again selling a popular exotic fruit that is difficult to find elsewhere in the UK. The product will cost around £1.99 to buy, and it is expected to fly off shelves as it did the last time it was in stock, as Aldi referred to the item as “gold dust.”

The product in question? Kiwi berries.

In their viral video, the supermarket shared footage of a person going into an Aldi store and finding kiwi berries on the shelf. The video clearly showed the berries marked at £1.99, and both the note on the shelf and the packaging indicated the berries are a “new” item.

Aldi wrote alongside the video: “Run don’t walk, kiwi berries are back. These are our gold dust, grab them while you can.”

Commenters on Aldi’s video were excited to either get their hands on more kiwi berries or try them for the first time.

Many said they would be visiting their local Aldi as soon as possible to grab a pack for themselves.

One person said: “They are delicious!” Another added: “I got them on Monday, they were so tasty!”

A third wrote: “I’ve been trying to find these! I’m on my way!”

Kiwi berries look like the original kiwi fruit, but they are much smaller and they don’t have furry skin – meaning you can eat them whole without having to peel them first.

The berries are about the size of a grape and look similar to a gooseberry, but taste much sweeter. They’re also low in calories and are packed full of nutrients like vitamin C and fibre.

According to Berry World, 100g of kiwi berries contain 65 calories, 4.7g of fibre, and 84.6mg of vitamin C.

The website also states you should store your kiwi berries in the fridge, but they should be brought up to room temperature and washed before eating in order to “get the most out of” them.

Although the Aldi video states the berries are £1.99, the Aldi website lists them for £1.89 and states that “prices online may vary from prices in store”.
