Prepare for the best (and cheapest) Easter roast dinner you’ve ever had thanks to UK supermarket chains slashing their fresh produce prices this weekend
Supermarkets have unveiled mega-reductions for Brits making a roast with all the trimmings this weekend. With Easter Sunday quickly approaching (April 20), Brits up and down the nation will be getting ready to invite friends and family over for a delicious dinner drowning in gravy.
We’re talking roasted lamb, honey-drizzled carrots, boiled broccoli and helpings of buttery mash. It’s the first time many of us will have enjoyed a proper roast dinner since Christmas – when swathes of retailers slashed the price of popular veg to mere pennies.
This week is no different, with Asda, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, Sainsbury’s and Tesco rolling out hefty reduction stickers in the fresh produce aisle – dropping prices to as low as 8p. However, there is just one small catch you need to be aware of.

“With tempting prices, it’s easy to go overboard stocking up on veg – but that can lead to waste,” writes money-saving expert Jenny H. “Making a plan of what veg you’ll need before you shop can help with that. You can also consider freezing veg in advance. For example, you could roast or mash potatoes, parsnips or carrots and freeze them to make your Easter Sunday roast a less stressful experience, or to use another day.”
Other deals to look out for include Sainsbury’s £2 fruit and veg box, Lidl’s £1.50 ‘Waste Not’ box – which weighs a whopping 5kg – and Morrisons’ cheap ‘wonky veg’. Produce in these deals may be close to their expiration date, and might not look perfect, but still taste great and cut your Easter spending down.
