Alex Scott and Dermot O’Leary forced into Soccer Aid apology after Tyson Fury comments

By staff15 June 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

ITV sport presenter Alex Scott issued an on-air apology after both Tyson Fury AND Harry Redknapp swore while revealing the England team ahead of Sunday night’s charity match

Tyson Fury and Harry Redknapp turned the air blue with a pair of F-bombs during ITV’s coverage of Soccer Aid, forcing Alex Scott to issue an apology.

The former world heavyweight champion boxer and the legendary ex-Premier League boss were shown naming the England XI ahead of Sunday evening’s huge charity match at Old Trafford. And Fury swore during a motivational speech before Redknapp revealed the team, saying: “We are f***ing Spartans.”

A laughing Redknapp then dropped an F-bomb of his own before confirming the team to laughter in the home dressing room.

Scott and Dermot O’Leary, the ITV presenting team for the event, apologised for any offence caused by the swearing.

“We do apologise for the swearing. It’s Tyson we don’t know what’s going to happen,” Scott said.

Paul Scholes set for Soccer Aid reunion with Man Utd team-mate he branded ‘lunatic’

A host of stellar names, including Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville and Michael Carrick were among the ex-professionals to be named in the starting XI.

And on the celebrity front, Louis Tomlinson and Bella Ramsey were included in the team selected by the management group.

There is no place in the team for Sam Thompson, though, with the former Made in Chelsea star confirming earlier this week that he would be unavailable due to a calf injury following a gruelling charity challenge ahead of the big match.

He said: “I’m still very sore, still got the torn calf, however I am here at Soccer Aid HQ and it does not get better than this. We’ve still got the management team of England, we’ve got Vicky McClure, Tyson Fury, who’s stepping into some new shoes and Harry Redknapp…

“But also because I’m not going to be able to run around, you’ve also got me, part of the management team. Come on baby! … I came here with high hopes and went to see Gary the physio and I can kick a ball from a standing start, but when it comes to like general chaos of playing competitive sport there’s just no way. I cant really run properly so yeah. They were very kind and said we still want you to be a part, so I get to go on the dark side with Tyson Fury.”
