Alison Hammond says ‘I want to live longer’ as she addresses weight-loss jabs

Alison Hammond lost 13 stone after being diagnosed as pre-diabetic in 2020 by overhauling her lifestyle

08:10, 21 Oct 2025Updated 08:19, 21 Oct 2025

This Morning star Alison Hammond says she “wants to live longer” as she addresses the possibility of using weight loss jabs. Alison, 50, shed around 13st in recent years after altering her diet and adopting a strict exercise regime.

Alison decided to overhaul her lifestyle after being diagnosed as prediabetic in 2020. People who have been diagnosed with the condition are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes later in life, the NHS explains.

The Great British Bake Off host had previously lost 2st in 2007 after having a gastric band fitted when she took part in the reality TV show Sugar Free Farm. But she had it removed just three years later.

Now Alison admits she enjoys being “smaller” and hopes it will prolong her life. It comes as she admits she would be open to using weight loss jabs in the future.

She said: “I don’t like the fact you have to say, ‘Oh no, I wouldn’t have the jab’. Maybe next year I might change my mind and I might start jabbing up.”

Alison says she has “no opinion” on weight loss jabs. She adds: “If someone wants the jab, go for it. What does it matter how someone loses their weight?

“Would you rather me die from being obese? Ultimately I want to live longer, so we’ll do whatever to get smaller and be more healthy.”

Alison has previously shared details of the gruelling gym routine she has adopted to maintain her sleek figure. She regularly completes 45-minute bootcamp-style circuit routines and likes to walk when she can’t train.

Speaking to Heat magazine, Alison said: “If I’m working, I don’t train, I’ll go for a walk. But when I’m at home, I’ll go and have a session with her in the morning, just an hour. It might be four days a week.”

She says she hasn’t cut anything out of her diet completely, but now enjoys everything in “moderation”. She has previously discussed her trepidation about weight loss jabs, saying she had heard “scary” stories about them.

In a chat with Good Housekeeping in December, she confessed: “‘I think that, for people who need to use them, they’re a good thing – but for me, as soon as I hear any scary story, I get frightened.

“So I haven’t wanted to use them, but that’s not to say I wouldn’t in the future, and I certainly wouldn’t look down on anyone who did.”

Alison rose to fame on Big Brother in 2002. She went on to work as an entertainment reporter on This Morning in 2002, gaining attention for her cheeky interviews with A-list stars, before becoming a main presenter on the hit show in 2021.

In 2023 she replaced Matt Lucas as the host of Great British Bake Off alongside Noel Fielding.
