Amazon cuts 80% off 12L dehumidifier as heavy rain forecast

Although Storm Benjamin has just passed through, it looks as though shoppers will see no respite from the wet weather any time soon. As shoppers grapple with the ongoing rain, causing damp and chills, it might be worth looking into a dehumidifier to solve any moisture woes – and Amazon is offering hefty discounts with limited-time deals.

The 12L/Day Dehumidifier with Humidity Sensor & Display and 24-Hour Timer is currently priced at £99.99, down from £499.99, saving shoppers 80%. With up to 12 litres of moisture pulled a day, the brand says it is ‘ideal for combating damp, mould, and condensation’.

This will be particularly beneficial at the moment, as the Met Office has forecast wet and windy conditions across the UK next week. There will be some ‘drier interludes’ as well, but as we go into November, it says ‘temperatures will be a little below average’.

The dehumidifier has a two-litre tank and a 1.05m hose that allows for hassle-free drainage, and the product has an auto shut-off feature and an indicator when the tank nears full. The LED display features real-time humidity read-outs with a colour indicator, meaning shoppers can effectively ‘set and forget’ with the dehumidifier’s auto sensor.

With three versatile modes, including auto, continuous, which the brand says is perfect for laundry and basements, and sleep mode, shoppers have several options. Plus, it has two fan speeds and auto defrost protection, making it ‘reliable’ all year round.

As an alternative, shoppers looking for something a bit more compact could look at Dunelm’s 900ml Compact Dehumidifier, currently priced at £44. The brand says this extracts up to 250ml of moisture per day, has an auto-stop function, and it has ‘powerful dehumidifying technology’, which eliminates damp and prevents mould, while extracting excess moisture from the air.

Otherwise, shoppers could look at Argos’ Challenge 10 Litre Dehumidifier, currently priced at £120. This can extract up to 10 litres of moisture per day, depending on the settings, has a visible water level and an auto shut-off function, and it has a washable filter.

Buyers of the 12L/Day Dehumidifier at Amazon were impressed with its efficiency. One said: “I’ve been using this dehumidifier for just about an hour, and it’s already collected the amount of water you can see in the photo.

“The humidity sensor is super responsive – I placed it under the drying rack and could literally see the numbers climb and the light turn red as the moisture went up. Overall, I’m really impressed – beautiful design, smart features, and practical in everyday life. Totally worth the purchase!”

Another said the dehumidifier was user-friendly, due to how convenient and compact it was. They said as part of a longer review: “Great dehumidifier. Easy to move around as it comes with wheels. Very user-friendly, and the ability to set a timer is highly convenient. Works well indoors to dry clothes and reduce moisture in the room.”

A third said: “This is a great dehumidifier. It has a laundry mode and an automatic mode. Having read about using a dehumidifier to dry laundry, I was sceptical, but it really does dry considerably faster with the dehumidifier.”

Not all shoppers felt the same, however. Some people left comments on Amazon’s Trustpilot, with one saying about the courier services: “I’ve always found Amazon good with deliveries, but this month I have had my subscribe and save orders split between Amazon delivery (which has arrived great) and Evri, who has a terrible delivery performance.”

Another said: “I had a few late deliveries even though I have Prime, but the drivers are always good.”
