The popular beauty gadget has been discounted as part of Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days
Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days are underway, offering Prime members discounts on hundreds of gadgets. One beauty deal has seen a £219 hair straightener slashed to £139. Cloud Nine’s The Wide Iron Hair Straightener Gift Set is popular with reviewers, with one impressed customer suggesting the beauty tool is “better than ghds.”
The Wide Iron Hair Straightener offers “100-200°C for styling at lower temperatures without the unnecessary heat damage,” and the plates are infused with “healing minerals to seal the hair’s cuticle and lock in moisture for shinier hair every time you style.”
The gift set includes a heat-resistant style case and a protective heat guard, and the product description states that the Wide Iron automatically comes with a free three-year warranty.

Shoppers looking for alternatives might want to check out the REVAMP Enigma Wide Ionic Radiance Ceramic Hair Straightener. It’s currently on sale at Boots, discounted from £149.99 to £59.99.
Another option could be the mdlondon PHAT Hair Straightener, on sale from £129 to £89. Elsewhere, Dyson has reduced the Dyson Airstrait dryer and straightener from £449.99 to £299.99.
According to Amazon’s product description, the straightener’s “wide plates are designed for kinder styling for bigger, thicker, longer hair.” The beauty tool is highly regarded by reviewers, earning an average rating of 4.8 out of five.
One reviewer claimed: “After reviewing various hair straighteners and previously owning GHDs I purchased these as me and my daughters all have long thick hair, and wow they don’t disappoint, I’d ordered the revamps weeks before and found them not to be very good, but these are next level! Bit pricey, but otherwise amazing and by far better than GHDs!!!”
Another customer wrote: “It is great for my daughters long thick curly hair. Sleek and shiny in half the time. Better than ghd’s in my opinion. Nice long cord and travel bag.”
Nonetheless, there were some shoppers who weren’t pleased. One unimpressed buyer wrote: “I have had ceramic tech straightening irons for at least 15 years (have had no problems with them) but decided to get a new pair, I bought cloud nines and I must say they are not as good as my ceramic techs!”
A second said: “On the face of it, these are good. But they don’t last. After less than 2 years of light – moderate use, they have abruptly given up on me. Completely dead. I would expect a considerably longer lifespan for such an expensive bit of kit. Very disappointed. I will return to GHD.”
Still, the praise for the set continued. Additional positive feedback read: “So much better than my old GHD’s. Could not believe how good they are. They keep my naturally curly hair straight for 3-4 days.”
