The new Amazon Alexa+ could be found on devices very soon, since the announcement device favourites including Fire TVs, Echo Dots and Fire TV Sticks have plummeted in price
Amazon has launched a surprise sale on its much-loved Echo devices, in a seemingly discreet sale shoppers can now find cheaper Fire tablets, TVs, Echo Spot speakers, and even get extra money off at the till if they hand over an old device. As our Tech Commerce team rounds up the discounts worth taking to the checkout.
It comes as Amazon unveiled the new Alexa+ as the “next generation of Alexa” yesterday, from New York. The AI assistant found in most of its nifty smart speakers, alarm clocks, and Fire TVs.
UK shoppers will have to wait for the upgrade to become available but it seems overnight the retailer has added some hidden discounts to its site. We’ve highlighted the offers below.

These include a huge £180 discount on the 43-inch 4-Series Fire TV as it drops from £429.99 to £249.999, the cheapest-ever price of the UHD smart TV that was launched last year. While those not in the market for a new swanky TV upgrade can get a hidden discount on the newest Fire TV Stick HD as some shoppers bag 20% off the £39.99 device.
A snapshot of the Amazon device deals
Those looking for a new tablet for work or to do simple photo editing and make calls can currently save £49 on the Fire HD10 tablet. It’s dropped from £149.99 to £104.99.
More than 2,000 shoppers have bought this from Amazon in the past month alone, as it’s a go-to pick thanks to its decent 13-hour battery life and 32GB of storage. There’s also a choice of three colours, including a standard black, and brighter blue and lilac.
The Fire TV stick can be plugged into most standard TVs, as long as it has an HDMI port, which allows viewers to get smart streaming without a hefty multi-hundred pound contract. It gives Full HD quality, and adds streaming favourites like Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video to the home screen – of course, there’s Alexa too and a nifty voice-controlled remote.
The 20% trade-in discount will be taken off the £39.99 price of the Fire Stick, plus shoppers will get an extra Amazon gift card (of the value of their old, handed-in device). A popular discount for tech products and a way to recycle older tech that would otherwise be lying around at home – similar to Samsung’s current S25 trade-in discount that knocks up to £660 off the price.
This savvy way of cutting down the price can also be found on Amazon’s Echo Spot device, the smart alarm clock turned smart Echo speaker. It’s reduced (slightly) from £79.99 to £74.99 but again, shoppers can make of cutting an extra 20% off the price if they hand-over an older device.
A downside to the deal, though, is that it’s not the cheapest price we’ve ever seen. A quick look at history price checker CamelCamelCamel shows that it dropped to £44.99 during last years October Prime sale week, although this discount is really rare.
The Alexa-packed speaker – or soon to be Alexa+- features an alarm clock display and dome speaker. Comparable to the screen on the Echo Show, albeit smaller, it can be used to check the weather, time, and music right from your bedside table as an alternative to the popular Lumie Alarm Clock – now £199.
It’s not known how long Amazon will be offering the discounts for, so if you have your eye on one it’s worth being speedy. The other thing worth mentioning is the timing of Amazon’s new Alexa+. The update is expected to be rolled out all Alexa device, but it’s not immediate and UK shoppers will be waiting a while behind the US rollout.
