The smart speakers have become a popular product and can be found in millions of homes around the world
Amazon’s Prime Big Deals Day begins today (October 8), offering discounts across almost every department covered by the online store. From clothes, beauty and homeware, there’s bound to be something for everyone.
One area that sees reductions that are really worthwhile is technology – specifically Amazon’s own brand products. So, anyone considering upgrading their current systems have the perfect chance to do so at a bargain price this week.
Amazon has a huge catalogue of its own products including smart speakers, headphones, TVs and tablets. The popular devices are in millions of homes around the world – and there’s a rare window to claim your own for much less than usual.
The newer Echo Spot, released this year, is also included in the deal. It converts your Alexa into a “sleek” and customisable smart alarm clock that’s “ready to help you wake up, wind down and so much more”.
Echo Spot comes in three colours and is originally priced at £79.99. For this limited time offer, you can claim the latest Alexa device for £44.99
One customer said: “Bought this to replace a radio alarm on my bedside table and fits the bill well! Looks really good and the display is crystal clear.”
Another added: “I recently purchased an Alexa device, and I have to say, it’s absolutely perfect. This smart assistant has quickly become an essential part of my daily routine.”
A third claimed: “Setting alarms is a breeze, and it’s incredibly convenient to do so with just a simple voice command. Whether I’m setting a morning alarm or a quick reminder during the day, Alexa handles it effortlessly.”
Someone did claim that, despite being “a decent little smart speaker”, they felt forced to return the device for “what feels like a big own goal on Amazon’s part”. They added: “Unlike many other Alexa devices with a screen, you cannot turn the screen off at night.
“It does go into a night mode, but this still appears very bright and will disturb your attempts to get to sleep if you struggle with light like I do.”
The Echo smart speaker often gets discounted in all its forms during a Prime event. If you don’t need the pricier alarm clock version, one of the current bestsellers t he Echo Pop has been slashed by more than half price (56%) from £44.99 to £19.99. Also, the fifth generation Echo Dot has been cut down from £54.99 to £22.99.
Parents have also praised the child-friendly Echo Dot Kids that comes in two fun designs – either a dragon or a owl. Costing £27.99 during the flash sale, it has access to Amazon Kids+, a subscription service which unlocks a whole range of Alexa skills perfect for little ones.
Online, it claims: “Kids can ask Alexa to play music, read a bedtime story, get help with their homework and more. Stream songs from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and more.”
You can find alternative products from other brands elsewhere. At Argos, you can pick up a Google Nest Audio Smart Speaker for £89 or an Apple HomePod for £96 at Currys.
