Amazon shoppers swap iPad for £39 Fire tablet in last chance Spring Sale deal stack

By staff31 March 2025No Comments5 Mins Read

Amazon’s Fire HD 8 tablet has been reduced in the Spring Deal Days sale, bringing it down to its lowest price ever with this combination of deals

Amazon’s Spring Deal Days event has entered its final hours, with thousands of discounted items up for grabs until 11.59pm on Monday, March 31. Among them is the 8″ Fire HD tablet, usually priced at £99.99 but currently slashed by 45% to £54.99 for anyone who stacks it with another deal.

By combining Amazon’s spring sale with a free TopCashback account, shoppers can effectively snag the tablet for £38.84 once the cashback lands in their account. This 65% discount brings the tablet to its lowest price ever, even beating last year’s Black Friday price tag of £49.99. Plus, you can shave off up to an additional 20% if you trade in one of your older devices.

Despite being Amazon’s entry-level tablet, the Fire HD 8 is still a robust device. Running on Amazon’s Fire OS, it provides access to a plethora of apps, a Kindle library and Prime Video on the move.

The 8″ screen is ample enough to enjoy all your content yet compact enough to slip into a bag without much fuss. Weighing in at 337g, it’s incredibly lightweight, making it perfect for younger kids as well, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Equipped with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, it’s sufficient to get you started with a few games and apps. Plus, there’s scope for expansion up to 1TB with a MicroSD card slot on the side.

TopCashback is giving away a £15 sign-up bonus to new members, plus cashback when shopping with retailers like Amazon, Argos and Ninja.

Its impressive battery life boasts up to 13 hours of juice, perfect for those who want to use it as a mini workstation throughout the day. By pairing it with a Bluetooth keyboard, users can transform the tablet into an ultra-portable laptop alternative.

If you’re looking for alternatives, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 is currently discounted by 37% to £106.88 and runs on Android OS, providing access to the full suite of apps on the Google Play Store. Shoppers who prefer Apple devices may want to consider Sky Mobile’s deals, including the new iPad and iPad Air, for £10.50 and £17 when spreading the cost, with no upfront cost.

How to get the discounted Amazon Fire HD tablet

  • New members of TopCashback can sign up here.
  • Search for Amazon and click ‘Get Cashback Now’.
  • Shop and checkout as usual at Amazon with your Fire HD Tablet.
  • Cashback will then be tracked and appear in your TopCashback account after purchase.

Keep in mind that if you’re not a new TopCashback member, you’ll receive significantly less cashback. The price for existing members is £53.84, so it’s worth creating a new account to maximize the deal.

Amazon shoppers have awarded the tablet a solid 4.4-star rating, with one reviewer saying: “Even though I own an iPad Pro, I still use this in preference when I’m reading books or cooking and need the recipe easily available. It’s also small enough to fit in my coat pocket, or slot into my bag, so I take it with me when I have hospital or Doctors’ appointments, or I’m on the train.”

Another said: “Bought this in a sale for £40, it’s cheep, cheerful, lightweight, decent battery life, good for reading, browsing, web surfing, old school games, Netflix and Prime. It is not the fastest but unbelievable value for money. I strongly recommend if you have limited cash, on a budget or just have simple digital needs.”

A third buyer said: “My severely visually impaired wife uses the Kindle to read because she can change the background colour and make the font of books big enough to see with the aid of a magnifying screen. She loves it and treated herself to a brand new one as her original one had seen better days.”

Some customers did encounter some issues with the device, with one saying: “Bought plenty of these over the years for myself and as gifts, great quality but why no charger just a USB cable?”. It’s worth noting that Amazon no longer includes a charging brick in the box due to EU regulations, so you’ll need to ensure you have a USB charger brick at home already, or purchase one from Amazon simultaneously.

Another common gripe is that the app store on the Fire HD tablets is somewhat limited, with no access to Google Play, as this user said. “As anyone who’s ever used a Fire tablet knows, Amazon’s app store is very limited. There are no decent security/antivirus apps available. Not only do you get full web view on a tiny device, you get it via a web browser that you can’t protect.”
