Amazon slashes £450 off Shark self-emptying robot vacuum in mega Prime Day deal

The Shark PowerDetect Robot Vacuum and Mop comes with a self-emptying and cleaning base, with shoppers saying it ‘makes such a difference’ to their house

The Shark PowerDetect Robot Vacuum
The Shark PowerDetect Robot Vacuum is almost half price for Prime Day

Amazon has slashed £450 off a Shark robot vacuum cleaner in the Prime Day sale. The Shark PowerDetect Robot Vacuum and Mop with Self-emptying and Cleaning Base has been reduced from £949.99 to £499.99 – a discount of 47%.

This beats Shark’s own £799.99 price tag and is the lowest ever offered for the device, according to price tracker camelcamelcamel. More affordable options in the Prime Day sale include the roborock Q7 L5+ Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum Cleaner (£269.99) and the best-selling eufy G50 Robot Vacuum Cleaner (£99.99).

But for those sticking with Shark, the PowerDetect model is an ideal time saving device as the little gadget is designed for ‘efficient and effortless’ cleaning. It enables those in busy households to spend less time cleaning thanks to its 360° LiDAR mapping technology, which creates a map of a space and even detects obstacles.

This ensures a thorough clean throughout the house, including in corners and edges. The Shark can tackle both carpeted and hard floors with dry and wet mopping functions and can automatically detect and pick up dirt.

It’s also said to require little maintenance as it empties itself into the 60-day-capacity dustbin and refills its water tank for up to 30 days, washing and drying the mop pad after every use. Users can keep tabs on the vacuum via the SharkClean app, allowing them to schedule cleaning sessions, as well as edit maps and set no-go cleaning zones.

Amazon has slashed £450 off the Shark PowerDetect Robot Vacuum in the Prime Day sale.

Elsewhere, Dyson has launched its own summer sale and slashed £300 off the Dyson 360 Vis Nav Robot Vacuum Cleaner (£899.99). This is said to be Dyson’s ‘most powerful’ robot vacuum, delivering ‘six times the suction of any other robot’.

Samsung also offers a robot vacuum range, including the Samsung Jet Bot+ (£799), which the brand says is a more hygienic way of emptying the dustbin thanks to its multi-layered filtration system. But the Shark PowerDetect Robot Vacuum and Mop with Self-emptying and Cleaning Base has earned a 4-star rating from Amazon customers, with some hailing it a ‘very helpful’ gadget.

One satisfied shopper said: “Very helpful addition to the house. We struggle with our golden retriever always shedding hair. We’ve got it set up to vacuum and mop in the early morning and then again at lunchtime. Makes such a difference. Best household appliance we’ve bought in a while.”

‘For the amount of work this saves it’s excellent value for money’

Another said: “Very efficient and easy to use. I absolutely love the way this vacuum finds its way around the house. The remote control app is amazing too. It sounds very efficient and gets busy doing its thing. It functions perfectly to clean all my floors with great ease. I’m very happy with it. For the amount of work this saves me it’s excellent value for money.”

This three-star review said: “Suction not very strong; mopping doesn’t give a good scrub either; fine with staying on top cleaning but not good for anything more than gentle mopping and dusting.”

Another glowing review said: “I absolutely love this little robot. It’s brilliant; it cleans and maps my downstairs area and then goes about its job of vacuuming and mopping every day. I still do a deep clean with my own steam mop each month. We work together now, and it helps me stay on top of keeping the floors clean.”
